We often say, "Christ died for our sins," but how often do we stop to consider what that statement actually means? The significance of Christ's death is central to the gospel, yet many modern critiques challenge the substitutionary nature of His atoning work.
In this episode, we examine and refute several common arguments against Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA) and the biblical doctrine of propitiation. Interacting with claims made by popular Eastern Orthodox apologist Jay Dyer, we address objections concerning sin, divine justice, the nature of Christ's sacrifice, and allegations that PSA somehow implies a rupture within the Trinity.
Rather than relying on assertions or philosophical speculation, we turn to Scripture to evaluate these claims. What does the Bible mean when it says that Christ died for our sins? What is propitiation? Did Christ truly bear our judgment as our substitute? And why does this matter for understanding the gospel itself?
Join us as we seek to bring biblical clarity to one of Christianity's most important doctrines and defend the glorious truth that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.
