Tom and Curtis close out Season 3 by walking the whiteboard through the six-layer revenue operating system the season has built, one episode at a time:
the traps of mirror marketing, The Chaos Tax, and AI as a false prophet
the psychology of purchase decisions with Will Leach
excavating customer truth with Emily Bielak
the power of story with Kristian Alomá
our sense of community with Mark Schaefer
owned audiences, not rented, with Brian Clark
and measurement with Aimee Schuster.
Then they put it to work in a live demo. Using a hypothetical company called Dunder Mifflin, Curtis shows an AI “front office” built from documented belief, process, and judgment instead of the average of the internet.
When the AI tool goes down mid-demo, he moves the same files to a different tool and keeps going, making the case that the context layer is the asset, and the tool is interchangeable.
The episode ends with an optional, no-obligation AI readiness self-assessment and a look ahead to Season 4.
TAKE THE FINAL EXAM NOW!
Takeaways:
Marketing built on a mirror reflects what a company already believes about itself, not what its customer actually feels.
The chaos tax is the leakage inside your system that you can’t see, and it compounds further down the funnel.
AI is a false prophet when it amplifies messaging that was never grounded in customer truth.
Purchase decisions are emotional and identity-driven, and a customer’s mind state can change even when the customer doesn’t.
If you haven’t asked your customers, you’re guessing, so excavate the truth before you write a word of messaging.
The what, so what, now what framework turns raw interview data into a documented decision about where to pour the gas.
The customer is the hero of the story, and the best stories never mention the product.
Owning your audience through email beats renting it from an algorithm.
Tracking the conversion from one stage to the next shows where the process or the data is broken.
Document your beliefs, processes, and judgment so AI gets an orientation, not just a prompt.
The tool is about 10% of the workflow, so build the context layer and keep it portable across AI tools.
