Summary
After many years spent hoping for a child, a farmer and his wife welcome a son who, to their horror, is born half-hedgehog. When the boy is old enough he leaves home with a musical pipe, and riding the family rooster.
While living in the woods he helps two different kings find their way home, on the agreement that they give him the first thing which greets them when they see their castle. Only one king is true to his word and readily welcomes Jack into his kingdom, where his life is changed forever.
