In this episode of State of the Republic, we talk about Sacramento Republic FC’s 0–0 draw against San Antonio FC — or, as we call them on the podcast, Uncle Ruckus. Republic had chances to win the game, but the San Antonio goalkeeper and the goalposts had other plans, forcing Sacramento to settle for a point.

With the draw, Republic shares the points with San Antonio and remains right in the middle of a dramatic Western Conference playoff race. Sacramento is getting close to the top three, but is also only four points clear of the playoff line, making every result that much more important as the regular season continues.

We review the latest USL Championship standings and break down just how tight the Western Conference has become.

Finally, we look ahead to Sacramento’s upcoming matchup against New Mexico United and talk about what Republic will need to do to turn these close games into three points.
