Agoraphobia can make the world feel smaller without changing the world around you.
The streets are still there. The stores are still open. Life continues happening. But somewhere along the way, an invisible boundary can begin forming around what feels safe and what doesn't.
In Episode 5 of Inner Warrior: A Mental Health Podcast, Matt Brower shares his lived experience with agoraphobia and explores what it can feel like when fear begins drawing invisible lines around your life.
This conversation goes beyond defining agoraphobia. We explore the experience of living within an invisible boundary, the calculations behind seemingly ordinary decisions, what other people may not understand about that fear, and what it can mean when your world begins expanding again.
We also talk about courage without prescribing what courage should look like. There is no required distance, timeline, or path. Your experience is yours, your circumstances are yours, and your journey deserves to be treated that way.
For those who love someone struggling with agoraphobia, this episode also explores the importance of understanding rather than pushing: you don't have to drag someone across their boundary. Sometimes you can simply stand beside them while they find their way.
Fear can have a voice... without getting the vote.
