Vince puts on his blue suede shoes, curls his lip, shakes his hips and takes us back to the August of 1977, when, after years of sad decline, the incomparable Elvis Presley died, aged just 42. Was it drugs or a heart attack? Could it have been prevented if someone was actually caring for the King of Rock and Roll? And, most importantly, just how completely devastated was Vince's Elvis-loving mum?

Our UK No 1 comes from 1970, when tough guy Lee Marvin growled that he was born under a wand'rin' star. You just wouldn't get this kind of song topping the hit parade these days. Imagine Jason Statham's low cockney rumble on (Googles popular musicals of the 21st Century) "Man Up" from "The Book of Mormon", or Liam Neeson's Irish monotone on "What is this Feeling?" from "Wicked "!

Jeremy fondly remembers the first time he watched the wonderful US sitcom "Cheers" - broadcast in the early 1980s on the newly-formed fourth channel, Channel 4. "Cheers" leads us to other US sitcoms of the 70s and 80s that were cosy viewing for us young Brits, such as "Rhoda", "M*A*S*H*", and "Taxi". (RIP George Wendt)
