  • Why Do Clients Ultimately Hire a Production Partner?
    2026/09/23

Almost every organization could run its own virtual event. The tools are free, the staff already exists, and the internet connection is usually good enough. So why do organizations bring in a production partner?

In this episode of Run of Show, Glenn from Streaming Architect covers the three reasons clients hire a producer:

    1. Focus on the message, not the microphone. Once speakers start worrying about screen sharing, slide advances or their internet connection, they stop being present for their audience.
    2. Problems solved before they happen. A speaker's power goes out, the platform glitches mid-session, a slide won't load. A good producer has already planned for these, so the next step is decided before anything goes wrong.
    3. Looking capable and credible. A choppy, awkward virtual event can undercut months of good work in twenty minutes. A well-produced one reinforces it.

None of it is really about the technology. It's about designing the whole experience so you can focus on your audience and trust that everything behind you is handled. That's the difference between operating a stream and architecting an event.

  • WHAT HAPPENS BEHIND THE SCENES DURING A LIVE PRODUCTION?
    2026/09/16

From the audience's side, a well-run virtual event looks effortless — smooth transitions, clean audio, a speaker who never seems to trip over the tech. That's the point. But here's what's actually happening behind the scenes to make it look that way.

In this episode, Glenn Shelton walks through what a production team is really doing during a live event: the double run-throughs before anyone joins the call, the backup internet connection standing by, the minute-by-minute run-of-show, and the four things someone is watching in real time — video, audio, chat, and the script itself — so the speaker only has to think about their message. And when something genuinely goes wrong? That's exactly what all the preparation was for.

If you've got an event coming up and would rather focus on your message than your tech stack, this episode shows you what a real production partner actually does.
