Burton Richardson is one of the most respected fight instructors in the world, with credentials in JKD, Filipino martial arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, etc. Victim to a sexual predator as a child, Richardson vowed to never be a victim again and dedicated his life’s work to learning and teaching martial arts. Richardson was Black Belt magazine’s Self Defense Instructor of the Year and inducted into their Hall Of Fame in 2015. He is the author of five books: Jeet Kune Do Unlimited, Choke ‘Em Out, In the Footsteps Of Bruce Lee, Silat For The Street, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu For The Street.

He has cornered ADCC Hall Of Famer Baret Yoshida in 4 separate competitions, was head coach for UFC legend Chris Leben from 2009-2012, but now prefers to help non-athletes with functional self-defense. His guiding philosophy is that all techniques and training methods must be PRESSURE TESTED and PROVEN effective before they are taught. Burton resides in Hawaii, with his wife Sarah and daughter Talina.

His unique and unorthodox style, involving techniques like the deep half guard and donkey guard, have earned him various nicknames (one of which being “The Human Monkey”). His long and successful career includes accomplishments such as 1st Place in the IBJJF World Championship NoGi (2007), 2nd Place at the EBI Invitational (2014), and 3rd Place at the ADCC World Championship (2011).

Doctor Lucius Pomerantz is an orthopedic surgeon and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. He went through resident training at UC San Diego, where he graduated Cum Laude, and went on to train at the Campbell Clinic for his fellowship. He is also currently a team physician for the San Diego Gulls hockey team and a ringside physician for combat sports. His unique experiences help him to bridge the gap between the sports world and the health field. He and his wife live in San Diego.
