A short and sweet episode about my love for Hayley Kiyoko and how the Girls Like Girls music video became a defining moment for so many queer people when it came out in 2015.

I share my own feelings around the music video, and how watching it for the first time in 2015 (at 20 years old) had me reflecting on feelings I had for a friend back in high school.

PS: What a full-circle moment — Hayley Kiyoko’s directorial debut, the feature film adaptation of Girls Like Girls, hits theatres June 19. The gays are screaming.

Inspired by the novel We Breed Lions by Rick Westhead, my good friend Jess and I unpack the long history of silence, misogyny, and homophobia embedded in hockey culture and why change has been so slow.
