- Heroes (Season 1): Some humans begin evolving special powers like time travel, healing, invisibility and flying. This popular 2006 TV series consists of 4 seasons and concludes with the 2015 TV miniseries Heroes Reborn. Available on Netflix and Prime Video.

Anthony Maras brings this tense historical drama to the screen, adapted from David Haig’s stage play. Set in the days before D-Day, the story follows RAF meteorologist Group Captain James Stagg (Andrew Scott) as he is given the impossible task of forecasting the weather for Operation Overlord. With thousands of Allied ships waiting to cross the Channel, Stagg must convince General Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) whether conditions will hold - knowing a wrong call could cost the war. Kerry Condon, Chris Messina and Damian Lewis round out the cast.

We discuss whether a wordy, play-based story about a weather forecast can still feel like a proper movie, how well Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser carry the tension, and why shining a light on the people behind D-Day rather than the beaches themselves makes this one of the more distinctive World War II films of the year.
