All for Jesus: A Life of Generosity | Pastor Drew East | Rise Up Culture Church

When a church talks about money, the whole room can tense up. This week Pastor Drew shares his honest journey into God's heart for giving and what the Bible really says about tithing and generosity. The answer is simpler and more freeing than a rule: give Jesus your whole life, and let Him lead you in what to give and who to give to.

—

📖 IN THIS EPISODE

Drew walks through giving from the Old Testament to the New, from Abel's firstfruits and Abraham's tenth to Paul's teaching on intentional, Spirit-led generosity. He shares where he has landed on tithing, where he is still holding things with open hands, and the simple stance Rise Up takes. Then he unpacks the principle of seed and bread from 2 Corinthians 9:10, and how receiving God's love again and again is what makes generosity overflow.

—

🔑 KEY TAKEAWAYS

• Our lives belong to Jesus, so our finances do too. Generosity starts with surrender, not a percentage.

• Give what Jesus leads you to give. Sometimes that's more than our logic expects, and sometimes it's less.

• Give to who Jesus leads you to give to. The early church gave to ministers, missionaries, and the poor.

• Giving is never meant to crush you. God's heart is generosity without pressure, manipulation, or shame.

• Ask Him what is seed and what is bread. Some of what God gives provides for your household, and some is meant to be sown.

Freedom From Fear | Lymaris LovelordHow do I squash my fears and embrace what God has made me for? This week our NextGen Director, Lymaris Lovelord, shows us that God's answer to fear has always been His presence. Our safety was never meant to be our circumstances, our control, or even our calling. Our safety is Jesus.📖 IN THIS EPISODEWe unpack why fear gets so loud when we stop feeling safe, and how God answers it again and again with "I am with you." Through the stories of David, Peter, and the race set before us, we learn how to stop chasing the calling and start following Jesus into everything He made us for.—🔑 KEY TAKEAWAYS- Fear gains power when we no longer feel safe. God's answer to fear is His presence: "I am with you."- Our safety is Jesus. Not circumstances, control, opportunities, promises, or even our calling itself.- God made you on purpose. You are His workmanship, created for good works He prepared ahead of time. Then you have to go.- Trust the One who called you. Like David in the cave, we don't force the promise. We trust God to fulfill it.- Keep your eyes on Jesus. Like Peter, we step out when Jesus says "Come" and look to Him, not the wind and waves.- Pursue Jesus, not the calling. As we follow Him, He leads us into everything He created us for.—📜 SCRIPTURE REFERENCEDIsaiah 41:10Joshua 1:1-9Psalm 23:4Psalm 56:1-41 Samuel 16:1-131 Samuel 24:1-7Ephesians 2:8-10Hebrews 12:1-2Matthew 14:22-33Hebrews 13:8Matthew 28:20Revelation 22:13—💛 ONE LINE TO HOLD ONTO"Our safety is Jesus. You Are A Leader with Kingdom LegacyAre you thinking too small about the life God has for you? In this message, Drew challenges us to stop settling for small thinking and start thinking God-sized about our calling, our leadership, and the legacy we're building. This is part 4 of the You Are A Leader series, with one message left to go.📖 IN THIS EPISODEOne of the biggest things that keeps Christians stuck isn't sin or selfishness, it's small vision. We look at how Jesus led with long term Kingdom impact instead of short term strategy, and what it means to build something for generations instead of just for now.—🔑 KEY TAKEAWAYS1. Small thinking cages your calling. Most believers aren't thinking too sinfully or too selfishly, they're just thinking too small.2. God thinks in generations, not moments. Galaxies, nations, a cross and a resurrection. He's building something that lasts.3. Jesus led with long term impact, not short term strategy. He wasn't chasing what was popular. He was thinking of every person, across every generation.4. You are built for more than a moment. As a co-heir of Christ, you're made to build something that outlasts you.—📜 SCRIPTURE REFERENCEDJohn 15:16—💛 ONE LINE TO HOLD ONTO"This world celebrates what's trending. You Are a Leader (Part 2): Qualified by JesusYou do not need a degree or a perfect past to be used by God. In Part 2 of our You Are a Leader series, we look at Peter and Paul, two men with opposite disqualifiers, and discover that Jesus alone makes us qualified to lead.📖 IN THIS EPISODEWe continue our You Are a Leader series by asking what actually qualifies someone to lead. Using the stories of Peter (Matthew 4:19-20, Acts 4:13-14) and Paul (Acts 8-9), we see that neither education nor a clean past ever qualified anyone. Jesus does.—🔑 KEY TAKEAWAYSJesus is our qualification. Mark 3:13-14 shows Jesus appointing the twelve so they could simply be with Him, that closeness was and still is the training. Not disqualified by a lack of education. Peter was an uneducated fisherman, yet Acts 4:13-14 says people recognized his boldness because he had been with Jesus. Not disqualified by sin. Paul persecuted and killed God's people, yet Jesus met him on the road to Damascus and transformed him into history's greatest missionary (Acts 8-9).We step out, He calls us forward. God's preparation for your calling may look nothing like the preparation you think you need.Empowered and qualified by Jesus. Knowing Him, following Him, and abiding in Him is what qualifies you, not what the world calls credentials.—📜 SCRIPTURE REFERENCEDMark 3:13-14 · Matthew 4:19-20 · Acts 4:13-14 · Acts 8-9—💛 ONE LINE TO HOLD ONTO"You are not disqualified. You Are a Leader: The Identity God Already Gave YouBefore God ever asks you to lead anything, He already calls you one. In Part 1 of our new series "You Are a Leader", we unpack what the Bible really says about your identity, and why leadership starts with believing what God says about you before you ever do anything to prove it.📖 IN THIS EPISODEWe start a new series by asking one question: if God introduced you to a room, what would He say? We walk through Matthew 5:13-14, Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 2:10, and 1 Samuel 10:6-7 to see how Jesus redefines leadership around identity instead of performance, and what it means to let Him lead your life so fully that you become part of transforming the world around you.—🔑 KEY TAKEAWAYSYou are what God says you are, not what you've done. Like an apple tree that is still an apple tree before it grows a single apple, your identity was declared over you, not earned by you.You are salt of the earth. Matthew 5:13 shows salt heals, preserves, and brings flavor into the ordinary, dry places of everyday life. You are light of the world. Matthew 5:14 uses the word kosmos, meaning you were made to help transform culture, not just inspire a room. You are His workmanship, with a destiny already prepared. Ephesians 2:10 puts identity before purpose, the good works were already set in place for you to walk into. You are part of His ekklesia. Matthew 16:18 reminds us the church was built to be a launchpad, not a bunker, meant to shape culture with Heaven's humility.—📜 SCRIPTURE REFERENCEDMatthew 5:13-14Matthew 16:18Ephesians 2:102 Corinthians 5:171 Samuel 10:6-7—🏡 TAKE IT TO YOUR FAMILYRead the full blog for kid-friendly translations, dinner table prompts, and a family challenge:https://www.theriseupculture.com/blog—🌱 WANT TO GO DEEPERFreedom Coaching: https://www.theriseupculture.com/freedom-coachingKingdom Calling Assessment: https://www.theriseupculture.com/grow—CONNECT WITH RISE UP CULTURE🌐 Website: https://www.theriseupculture.com⛪ Rise Up Culture Church: https://www.riseupculture.church🕊️ Freedom Coaching: https://www.theriseupculture.com/freedom-coaching📚 Courses, Assessments & Resources: https://www.theriseupculture.com/growFOLLOW US▶️ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@TheRiseUpCulture📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/theriseupculture👍 Facebook: https://facebook.com/theriseupculture—🙏 NEED PRAYER?We would love to pray with you. God gave you the next step, so why does it still feel like you're stuck at red? This week Pastor Drew shares an honest look at what keeps us parked in our calling: the endless search for certainty. Learn why waiting on God isn't the same as waiting to feel sure, and how learning to walk with Jesus means learning to wobble.📖 IN THIS EPISODEWe dig into Exodus 3, Genesis 12, Matthew 14, and Joshua 3 to see how God actually leads His people: one step at a time, not a full itinerary up front. We talk about the trap of chasing certainty, what it means to redefine success as celebrating the wobble, and why God isn't looking for perfection, He's looking for relationship.—🔑 KEY TAKEAWAYSGod gives the next step, not the whole map. Abraham, Peter, and Joshua all moved before they had certainty, and God led them as they went.Certainty is a trap, not a virtue. Waiting on God is not the same as waiting to feel 1000% sure.Shame teaches us to hide, often behind the need for certainty. God is inviting us out of hiding and into motion.Learning to walk means learning to wobble. Babies don't learn by studying walking, they learn by standing up and falling down.Success isn't perfection, it's willingness. God isn't looking for flawless steps, He's looking for a heart willing to take His hand.—📜 SCRIPTURE REFERENCEDExodus 3Genesis 12:1Matthew 14:28-29Joshua 3:9-13Isaiah 30:21—💛 ONE LINE TO HOLD ONTO"God can't steer parked cars."—🏡 TAKE IT TO YOUR FAMILYRead the full blog for a kid-friendly translation, dinner table prompts, and a family challenge:https://www.theriseupculture.com/blog—🌱 WANT TO GO DEEPERFreedom Coaching: https://www.theriseupculture.com/freedom-coachingKingdom Calling Assessment: https://www.theriseupculture.com/grow—CONNECT WITH RISE UP CULTURE🌐 Website: https://www.theriseupculture.com⛪ Rise Up Culture Church: https://www.riseupculture.church🕊️ Freedom Coaching: https://www.theriseupculture.com/freedom-coaching📚 Courses, Assessments & Resources: https://www.theriseupculture.com/growFOLLOW US▶️ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@TheRiseUpCulture📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/theriseupculture👍 Facebook: https://facebook.com/theriseupculture—🙏 NEED PRAYER?We would love to pray with you.
