He has a Bachelors, Honours, Masters & PhD in exercise science/ physiology, has worked in elite sport (Cricket, Surfing, Broncos) and is a recreational ultra-endurance athlete.
His whole philosophy for performance (especially with ultra running) is based around "nailing the basics".
