Revelation 2:12-17 Pergamum: Confronting Compromise | Revelation Part 1: The King Speaks | Sam Holm | 9-27-26

Living faithfully in a culture that pulls in every direction is one of the greatest challenges facing believers today. Drawing from Revelation 2:12-17, Jesus speaks to the church in Pergamum, a city saturated with idol worship, emperor worship, and pagan temples. He commends their courage in holding fast to His name, even in the face of persecution and death. But He also confronts a dangerous pattern of compromise, where some were standing boldly in public while tolerating sin in private. Compromise rarely happens all at once. It creeps in one small step at a time, slowly pulling a person away from where they intended to be. Jesus calls the church to repentance, not as a punishment, but as an invitation to turn back toward Him. And to those who do, He promises something far greater than anything the world can offer: hidden manna, a white stone of innocence, and a new identity found only in Him.
