Does Africa need a different venture capital model?

In this episode of the ScaleUp Africa Global Wealth & Philanthropy Podcast, Amma Gyampo speaks with Erikan Obotetukudo, innovative finance strategist, venture capitalist and Founder of Audacity, to challenge conventional thinking around venture capital, private markets and wealth creation across Africa.

Drawing from her experience at LinkedIn, Condé Nast and as the first Black woman to establish a tokenized venture capital fund, Erikan shares why Africa's investment future cannot simply replicate Silicon Valley.

Together they explore:

• Why Africa requires its own venture capital model

• Building businesses around revenue, profitability and sustainable growth

• Retaining ownership through self funded growth strategies

• Why investors should evaluate African markets through commercial opportunity rather than charity

• The rise of innovative finance, catalytic capital and permanent investment vehicles

• Emerging opportunities for family offices, private wealth advisors and impact investors

This conversation offers fresh perspectives for investors, entrepreneurs and philanthropists interested in the future of African capital markets and long term wealth creation.
