    Mimi Royals is an author, mother, woman of faith, and extraordinary survivor whose life story is a testament to what it means to keep going when life gives you every reason not to. But Mimi is also an original. You won't find anyone quite like her. She is bold, funny, outspoken, fiercely loyal, sometimes irreverent, and unapologetically herself. She has never been particularly interested in fitting neatly into anyone else’s expectations of who she should be, and that authenticity is woven throughout her story.

    Mimi’s journey with adversity began early. As a child, she battled bone cancer and underwent major surgery involving the removal of one of her ribs, an experience that introduced her to fear, uncertainty, and survival long before most children ever have to even understand those words. And life didn’t necessarily get easier from there.

    Over the years, Mimi experienced profound loss and heartbreak, including the death of her father as a teen, murder of family members, struggles with infertility and pregnancy loss, the devastating loss of her mother to cancer, and later the death of her beloved sister.

    She navigated challenges in her marriage and family, periods of loneliness and uncertainty, and moments when simply putting one foot in front of the other required tremendous strength. Then cancer came for Mimi again.

    Diagnosed with Stage 3B colorectal cancer, Mimi endured major surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and eventually a devastating recurrence involving her spine. At one point, her prognosis was measured not in years or months, but in days. Yet Mimi’s story did not end there. Through groundbreaking treatment with Opdivo, remarkable medical care, faith, miracles, and an almost stubborn determination to keep fighting,

    Mimi survived what once seemed unsurvivable. Her memoir, I Am Preserved, tells that story—not as the story of a woman who escaped hardship, but of a woman who learned how to live right in the middle of it. Mimi’s life has taught her that resilience doesn’t mean never being afraid, angry, heartbroken, or exhausted.

    Sometimes resilience is laughing when you probably should be crying. Sometimes it is allowing other people to carry you. Sometimes it is questioning everything and finding your way back to faith. And sometimes it is simply deciding, one more time, “I’m not done yet.” Today, Mimi brings honesty, humor, faith, gratitude, and a refreshingly unfiltered perspective to conversations about fear, grief, cancer, relationships, motherhood, loss, and starting over. She doesn’t pretend adversity made her perfect. It made her more certain of who she is.

Raised in rural Illinois, Dagan spent more than two decades pursuing purpose through military and intelligence service, eventually realizing that becoming a warrior had come at a tremendous personal cost.

    Today, Dagan is an entrepreneur, author, and co-owner of Nomadic Research. Through his work, his podcast, and his upcoming memoir, he shares the lessons learned from war, leadership, sacrifice, identity, and the difficult journey of finding his way home.

    His story is ultimately one of resetting after losing yourself—and having the courage to rise again.
