In this episode, we continue our verse-by-verse study of Acts 8; specifically, verses 18-25. We examine the shocking moment when Simon the sorcerer tries to buy the power of the Holy Spirit. Though he believed and was baptized, Simon’s request reveals a heart still driven by greed and self-interest.

Peter’s strong rebuke exposes a powerful spiritual truth: the gifts of God—and salvation through Jesus—cannot be purchased, manipulated, or used for personal gain. This passage challenges us to examine the difference between intellectual belief and genuine repentance, and reminds us that Jesus freely forgives all who truly turn to Him.

Join us as we explore false faith, true repentance, and the transforming power of a heart made right with God.

In this episode, we continue our verse-by-verse study of Acts 8; specifically, verses 9–17, where the gospel reaches Samaria. We meet Simon the sorcerer, whose counterfeit power is confronted by the true power of Jesus Christ through Philip’s preaching. As the Samaritans believe and are baptized, we explore the difference between outward belief and genuine saving faith, and why God uniquely delayed the coming of the Holy Spirit to confirm their full acceptance into the church. This passage reveals how God unites unlikely people and advances His unstoppable gospel.

  • S6:E2-Acts 8:1–8 — Persecution because of Jesus, Scattering, and the Joy of the Gospel
    2026/01/25

What happens when the Jesus' followers are attacked instead of applauded?

In this episode, we step into Acts 8:1–8, where the violent death of Stephen ignites a fierce wave of persecution against the early church. Saul—the man we will later know as the apostle Paul—emerges as a central figure, relentlessly hunting down believers and dragging men and women into prison. The Jesus' believers are scattered… but the gospel is not silenced.

As believers flee for their lives, they carry the message of Jesus with them, fulfilling Jesus' promise that His witnesses would go to Judea, Samaria, and beyond.

We follow Philip, one of the original deacons, as he brings the good news into Samaria—a place long rejected and despised by devout Jews.

Next episode: Philip’s encounter with Simon the sorcerer—and a sobering lesson about belief, power, and the heart.

  • S6:E1-Acts 7:51–60 — Stephen --The First Martyr because of Jesus
    2026/01/18

    Send us a text

In this episode, we conclude Acts chapter 7 by walking verse by verse through Acts 7:51–60, one of the most powerful and sobering passages in the Book of Acts.

Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit, turns from defending himself to delivering a bold, prophetic indictment of Israel’s leaders. Drawing on Israel’s own history, he exposes a repeated pattern: resisting God, rejecting God’s messengers, and ultimately betraying and murdering the Righteous One—Jesus the Messiah.

Stephen unmasks religious hypocrisy at its core—leaders who boast in the Law, hardened in heart, repeating the sins of their ancestors who persecuted God’s prophets. The truth hits hard, and the response is explosive.

As the Sanhedrin erupts in rage, Stephen is given a remarkable vision: the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of the Father. This declaration seals his fate. Dragged outside the city and stoned, Stephen becomes the first Christian martyr—yet he dies with unwavering faith, peace, and forgiveness on his lips.

Next episode: The message of Jesus moves beyond Jerusalem, and we begin to see how God uses persecution—and even unlikely people—to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth

  • S5:E9-Acts 7:42-50-Steven reminds the religious court of the Israelites' history of idolatry

In this week’s episode, we step into Stephen’s powerful defense before the Sanhedrin as he weaves together Israel’s early history to show that true worship of God long predated Moses, the Law, and even the Temple itself. You’ll hear how Stephen quotes Amos 5:25–27 to draw a bold parallel between Israel’s idolatrous ancestors—who worshiped the golden calf, Molech, and the “star of their god Rephan”—and his own contemporaries, who had elevated the Law and the Temple into hollow religious trappings.

We then follow Stephen as he reminds his listeners of the Tabernacle—God’s movable dwelling among the people through the wilderness and into the Promised Land—and how even David and Solomon’s magnificent Temple never confined the presence of the Most High. Drawing on prophetic passages from Isaiah, Stephen drives home the unforgettable truth that “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool” (Acts 7:49), challenging us to consider where—and how—we truly seek God today.

  • S5:E8-Acts 7:30-41-Stephen proves to the religious court that God was with the Israelites before Moses, the Mosiac law, and the Temple
    2025/06/29

We continue our verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter journey through the Book of Acts with an in-depth look at Acts 7:30–41.

Stephen stands before the Sanhedrin, defending himself against false accusations of blasphemy against God, Moses, the temple, and the Law. In his response, Stephen boldly argues that God has never been confined to a temple or tradition. He reminds them that God appeared to Moses not in Jerusalem, but in the wilderness—through a burning bush on what God Himself declared to be holy ground.

Stephen emphasizes that God revealed Himself to Moses as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—long before there was a temple, the Law, or even a nation called Israel. His message is clear: God’s presence isn’t limited by buildings or rituals.

Stephen also highlights Israel’s long history of rejecting God’s chosen leaders, including Moses—and now Jesus. He quotes Moses’ prophecy: “God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own people,” pointing to Jesus as the fulfillment of that promise.
