How do you measure success?
Most of us have an answer ready. A promotion. A championship. A degree. A life more comfortable than the one we started with.
Two athletes stand on the same Olympic podium wearing the same silver medal. One is smiling through tears. The other can barely look up. The result is identical. The achievement is not.
This episode is about the second measurement, the one that rarely appears on a résumé or a trophy. How far did someone have to travel to arrive where they are?
We spend time with Rendy Lu, the Taiwanese player who reached a career-high ranking of 33, beat Andy Roddick across four and a half hours at Wimbledon, and holds more Challenger Tour titles than anyone in the history of the sport. Most of that career happened where almost nobody was watching.
There is also a more personal story here. Michigan, aerospace engineering, and the years I spent comparing my own progress to friends who seemed to be moving faster.
💡 Pause and reflect: Whose achievement have you admired without ever wondering what it took to get there?
If these conversations are adding something to your journey, reserve your seat in the sanctuary by following the show wherever you listen.
