Ray Fleming is a strategic advisor in education, former senior leader in Microsoft and Google, and recently founder of AI consultancy Stratentia where he is a transformation catalyst - helping businesses make sense of AI and actually use it to get things done. Ray is always challenging conventional thinking about tech transformation. During a recent keynote at the Future Skills Organisation's National Forum, he highlighted that the current shift from IQ to humans plus AI, means technical knowledge must be paired with empathy. His latest research exposes why most AI training fails—"teams get shown the Mona Lisa without learning to hold the pencil". Ray also co-hosts the popular "AI in Education" podcast, is a former Times Higher Education columnist, and surprisingly, a professional improv performer at Sydney Comedy Fringe.

  • EP14: "Modern Apprenticeships" - Ryan Craig
    2025/08/17

    THE GUEST

Ryan Craig is an investor, author, and education change agent. He's Managing Director at Achieve Partners, co-founder of Apprenticeships for America, and the sharp pen behind the bi-weekly Gap Letter. His trilogy of books—College Disrupted, A New U, and, most recently, Apprentice Nation—has made him the go-to voice for “earn-while-you-learn” pathways that out-perform ever more expensive degrees. I met Ryan at this year's ASU+GSV Summit, where he talked about scaling apprenticeships, whether college is still worth it, and how a new ecosystem is emerging to serve the gap between learning and earning. Ryan joins us today to explore how intermediaries can unlock millions of new “earn-while-you-learn” opportunities across all industries.
