Some people date weekly. I date annually. Maybe biannually if the universe feels generous.

In this episode, I’m talking about a man I’ve known for almost two years and how we’ve only managed one actual date, which has turned into its own kind of romantic mystery. The pacing is strange, the timing is stranger, and I’m over here trying to stop using the word “and” like it’s emotional punctuation.

Somewhere in the middle of all this, I’m sorting through what “my type” even means anymore. Not the old version. The current one. (They might resemble one another.) The version shaped by real connection, steady energy, and the qualities I genuinely appreciate in the man I’m dating.

Meanwhile, in a fantastical dream state, my friend in Japan is living his best life, sending me voice notes about cherry blossoms and telling me to stop overthinking everything. He might be right.
