  • Dr. Jenny Radesky – What Distracted Parents are Really Saying to Their Kids
    2026/08/20

Many of our listeners graduated into adulthood in a different world than the one their children inhabit. You navigated your own childhood without a smartphone in your pocket, a notification pinging every few seconds, an algorithm deciding what you see. And now you're trying to parent in an environment that moves faster, connects deeper, and—if we're honest—works directly against the kind of presence and conversation that builds CMSRs.

Hello, I'm your host Dr. Anthony Silard, and welcome to ReSocial—where we rediscover, reflect on and renew how we approach social relationships so we can develop Compassionate, Meaningful, Sustainable Relationships, or what we call CMSRs.

Today I'm joined by Dr. Jenny Radesky, a developmental pediatrician at the University of Michigan and co-Medical Director of the American Academy of Pediatrics' Center of Excellence on Social Media and Youth Mental Health. Her career is built on a simple but radical premise: the problem isn't you, the parent, trying harder to manage screens. The problem is the systems—the design choices, the business incentives, the lack of federal guardrails—that make it almost impossible for families to build authentic connection in the first place.

  • Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky – The Five Mindsets for Feeling Loved
    2026/08/12

Feeling loved is something we build through how we choose to show up in every conversation, with every person who matters to us. And the power of that—the part that's actually within your control—starts with the first move. It's yours to make.

Hello, I'm your host Dr. Anthony Silard, and welcome to ReSocial—where we rediscover, reflect on and renew how we approach social relationships so we can develop Compassionate, Meaningful, Sustainable Relationships, or what we call CMSRs.

We’re joined today by Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky, author of How to Feel Loved, to discuss her research which shows us that how we listen—how we stay genuinely curious about the people we love—may be one of the most powerful things we can change if we want to feel more loved and help the people we care about feel the same way.

  • Dr. Richard Boyatzis – What Happens When You Overdose on Convenience
    2026/08/04

Have you ever ended a long week feeling completely spent or like you gave everything and somehow came back with less than you started? Or maybe you have someone in your life who keeps pushing, keeps achieving, but seems to be running on fumes and doesn't know why. That feeling isn't a personal failing, and it has a solution.

Richard Boyatzis, Distinguished Professor at Case Western Reserve University and author of The Science of Change. Over fifty years, Richard has studied how people actually change and what makes the relationships around us either restore us or quietly drain us dry. He will share what the neuroscience of renewal and human connection can offer all of us who are tired of feeling tired.

  • Your Attention Please – How Many of Our Tech Companies are Harming Our Children
    2026/07/30

Many of our listeners picked up their phones this morning and scrolled before getting out of bed. Some of you are still holding yours while listening to this. And a lot of you have felt, at some point, a small voice asking: Is this what I actually want? Is this how I want to spend my attention, my time, my relationships? But here's the thing—it's not just a personal weakness or a lack of willpower. It's by design. Today on ReSocial, we're talking to the creators and contributors of Your Attention Please, a film that explores how so many of us became addicted to our phones and asks who built them that way?

Hello, I'm your host Dr. Anthony Silard, and welcome to ReSocial—where we rediscover, reflect on and renew how we approach social relationships so we can develop Compassionate, Meaningful, Sustainable Relationships, or what we call CMSRs.

Today I'm joined by Sara Robin and Jack LeMay, filmmakers, and Kristin Bride, whose story of loss became the moral compass of this film. Together, they've created something that moves beyond personal blame and points toward collective healing—and that starts with understanding how we got here.

  • Dr. Todd Kashdan – The Dangers of Denying Your Capacity to Manage Adversity
    2026/07/21

Many people listening are caught between two worlds. On one hand, you've been taught to seek comfort—to find safety in what you know, to stick with the familiar, to avoid the discomfort that comes with asking hard questions. On the other hand, you sense that the greatest growth, the deepest connections, and the most meaningful work happen precisely when you're willing to feel uncomfortable. You're learning that the things worth discovering often live on the other side of uncertainty.

Todd Kashdan, Professor of Psychology at George Mason University and director of the Well-Being Laboratory whose entire career has been devoted to understanding why we often avoid discomfort when it's actually the gateway to our best selves. His research reveals that curiosity is a fundamental human capacity for growth that begins with the willingness to not know. And for many of our listeners trying to build better relationships in polarized times, that's where everything starts.

  • Dr. Linda Babcock – Say No When You Have a Deeper Yes
    2026/07/15

You could read every leadership book in the world, attend every productivity seminar, and still end up in the same place, burned out, behind, and wondering why you're working twice as hard as your colleagues for half the recognition. If you're a woman in your career, there's a good chance you already know why. You're not failing. The system is working exactly as designed, just not for you.

Linda Babcock, a pioneering economist at Carnegie Mellon University whose research has fundamentally changed how we understand work, fairness, and the hidden barriers holding women back. She's here to talk about why your calendar doesn't look like it should, why saying no feels impossible, and what changes when you finally understand what's actually happening to your time and your career.

  • Carl Honore | To Achieve Your Most Important Goals as Quickly as Possible, Slow Down
    2026/07/11

Many of our listeners feel caught in a speed trap. They wake up running, they work in a state of constant acceleration, and by the time they slow down at night, they're too exhausted to actually connect with the people they love. They know something is wrong with this pace, but they don't know how to change it—or even if it's possible. Today we're talking about why that exhaustion exists, what it costs us, and what becomes possible when we finally decide to stop running.

Hello, I'm your host Dr. Anthony Silard, and welcome to ReSocial—where we rediscover, reflect on and renew how we approach social relationships so we can develop Compassionate, Meaningful, Sustainable Relationships, or what we call CMSRs.

I'm joined by Carl Honoré, award-winning author and speaker, who spent his career as a journalist watching the world accelerate. But his real breakthrough came when he realized he was caught in the same trap. Carl's here to talk about what changed when he decided to stop, and what that shift revealed about how we connect with ourselves and each other.

  • Dr. Jennifer Crocker – Your Work is Not Your Worth
    2026/07/03

Have you ever spent hours crafting the perfect email, rehearsing what you’d say before a hard conversation, or replaying an interaction trying to figure out how you came across? Most of us do this more than we’d like to admit. And here’s what research shows: that effort — all that energy spent managing how others see us — is one of the main things getting between us and the connection we want.

Jennifer Crocker, Emerita Professor of Social Psychology at The Ohio State University to talk about why our efforts to manage other’s perception of us is misspent, and what we can do instead.
