Before Vishvamitra became one of the great sages, he was a powerful king.

In this episode of the Ramayan, Shatananda begins recounting Vishvamitra’s remarkable past — his royal lineage, his arrival with his army at Sage Vasistha’s hermitage, and the extraordinary hospitality offered through the divine cow Shabala.

Amazed by Shabala’s power, Vishvamitra offers immense wealth in exchange for her. But Vasistha refuses, explaining that Shabala is inseparable from the life and sacred duties of his hermitage.

This episode sets the stage for the conflict that would ultimately transform Vishvamitra’s destiny.
