Point 1. Realize That You Cannot Fast-Track Suffering

4 Titles of Honor

Chosen People: We are chosen by God, set apart from the world, & unified by the Holy Spirit.

Royal Priesthood: We have direct access to God’s presence, and the responsibility to bring others to God.

Holy Nation: We are distinct from the world because we are devoted to God.

Special Possession: We are treasured by God, and recipients of His favor.

Exodus 19:5-6 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. NIV

Our Response As God’s Chosen People

1. Remember your worth as son or daughter of God.

Malachi 3:17 “On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him. NIV.

2) Worship God like it matters.

3) Let your life be a witness for Jesus.

Immerse: The Love of Money

8.30.26

1 Timothy 6:6-11 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. The Deceitfulness of Wealth

1. The Lie: More money will bring happiness & security.

2. The Lie: Money promises significance.

3. The Lie: When I have more money then I can be generous.

How To Relate To Money

1. Be content with what you have.

Philippians 4:11-13 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. NIV

Contentment: Being satisfied with what you have, through the strength of Christ.

2. Don’t allow possessions to rule your heart.

Psalms 62:10 …though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.

3. Practice generosity, no matter how much you have.

Proverbs 11:24-25 One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. 25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Closing Text: 1 Timothy 6:19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

1. Our prayers can birth a new reality.

James 5:17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. NIV.

2) Our prayers are to be from a posture of faith.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. NIV.

3). Our prayers are to be persistent.

Luke 18:6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” NIV.

3 Actions On The Basis of Love

1. Look for ways to refresh others.

Philemon 7: Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.

2. Break down social barriers.
