Juan is one of the founders and directors of TAG! Queer Shorts Festival. TAG! goes against the grain of mainstream film festivals in centering stories and voices of queer and trans people of color. Stories of queer joy are gratifying, but stories of queer pain, grief, and resilience still reflect many lived experiences, especially internationally. TAG! shares these realities, and creates an inclusive, accessible space for the queer community to engage in dialogue. Juan also reflects on cinema and storytelling as ways to examine his own life and intersectional identities.
Hosted by MetroEast Community Media, Producers Corner features weekly interviews with diverse filmmakers, visual artists, and creators in Portland, OR, and beyond.
The intro/outro music, "Bubbly," was composed by Nasser Bouzida, Felipe Rodriguez, and John Montero.
