  • Episode 67: When crisis calls the United Way answers
    2026/09/18

Dave Moore speaks with Chris Segura and Mario Genazio of United Way of Southern Colorado about the organization’s response to the devastating Aspen Acres fire.

They discuss how United Way quickly brought together local nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, volunteers, and community members to provide displaced families with food, clothing, hygiene supplies, pet supplies, and other essential resources.

The episode highlights the overwhelming community response, including millions of dollars in donations and countless volunteer hours supporting those affected by the disaster. As the immediate supply needs decline, United Way’s focus has shifted toward long-term recovery, including helping residents navigate damage assessments, insurance, flooding impacts, and access to recovery funds.
