Congratulations!

In this episode, we’re looking at 4 questions every Christian coach should ask before choosing between self-publishing and traditional publishing:

1. How much control do you want? Think about your message, timeline, creative decisions, and how involved you want to be in the publishing process.

2. How much time do you realistically have? Not the time you wish you had—but the time you actually have between coaching, work, family, and everyday responsibilities.

3. What level of responsibility are you willing to take on? Every publishing path comes with responsibilities. The question is: which responsibilities make sense for you?

4. Why are you publishing this book in the first place? Your purpose matters. Are you building authority? Serving your audience? Creating a resource for your clients? Leaving a legacy? Something else?

And there’s one more important reminder:

Self-publishing does not have to mean self-doing.

You don't have to make your publishing decision based on what another author did. You need to understand your options, ask the right questions, and make a decision that fits your own situation.

As James 1:5 reminds us, if we need wisdom, we can ask God for it.

Friend, you’ve finished your manuscript.

You’ve written the chapters. You’ve edited the words. You’ve probably read those pages more times than you can count.

And now you’re thinking:

“I’m done. I can finally publish my book.”

But before you click Publish, there are three things you need to look at.

Because finishing your manuscript doesn't mean your book is finished.

In this episode of Publish Your Authority, we’re talking about the final pieces that can help your authority book look, read, and feel like the professional book your message deserves.

1. Why your book cover matters more than you think

Your cover is your reader’s first introduction to your authority. Learn why a professional book-cover designer can help communicate your message without taking away your vision.

2. Why you shouldn’t let your own eyes be the final editor

You know what you meant to say—but your reader only knows what you actually said.

We’ll talk about why a qualified human editor can help you identify repetition, confusing sections, weak transitions, inconsistencies, and places where your reader may lose momentum.

3. Why your manuscript still isn’t a book until it’s professionally formatted

Your Word document may look great on your computer, but a professionally prepared book requires attention to layout, margins, trim size, chapter openings, page numbers, and publishing requirements.

And you don’t need to become a KDP formatting expert to publish your book.

Self-publishing doesn't mean doing everything yourself.

It means taking ownership of getting your book into the world.

Sometimes stewardship means knowing what you can do yourself—and knowing when it’s wise to bring in someone with the right expertise.

As 1 Corinthians 14:40 reminds us:

“But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.”

This isn't about perfection.

Excellence isn't perfection. Excellence is stewardship.

Before you publish, ask yourself:

☐ Does my cover look like an authority book? ☐ Has an experienced human editor reviewed my manuscript? ☐ Has someone who understands KDP professionally formatted my book?

If one answer is no, don't panic.

Just don't publish yet.

Your book deserves the finishing attention it needs.
