It’s no coincidence that as Psychosocial surveys are increasingly what most organisations rely on for WHS Psychosocial Risk Management for Compliance, prosecutions & worker compensation claims (SafeWork data) are still on the rise with year-on-year increases.
- Most legal filings are not for not doing anything, but for having incomplete or inadequate systems that still leave employees exposed to psychosocial risks. Usually due to unknowing misapplications and incorrect ‘Risk Controls’, not lack of effort or not doing anything.
- The missing link: demonstrable Exec Duty-of-Care & impact, from the very top, not just starting with employee surveys, eg psychosocial surveys that focus on bullying, job demands, role clarity, incivility, harassment etc which by definition only start measuring after exposure. And put controls in place that are not ‘Risk Controls’, with no evidence that they are actually reducing risks, as required for Compliance.
