Life is full of uncertainty, but the ancient Jewish celebration of the Feast of Booths offers a surprisingly relevant framework for finding peace in the middle of it. Rooted in Leviticus 23 and echoed in Psalm 81, this celebration called God's people to confess what He had done, confront their tendency to stop listening, and respond with genuine worship. The psalm moves through three movements: a confession of God's saving acts, a concern about why His people refuse to truly listen, and a call to come and worship together. Worship is not a denial of hardship but a declaration of faith that God is present and providing, even in the wilderness. The Feast of Booths was celebrated in temporary shelters, open to the elements, and yet the command was still to rejoice. Whatever uncertain season you find yourself in, the invitation remains the same: come to the feast, remember what God has done, and celebrate even here.
