What does it take to leave a teaching career behind and answer a call to serve people living on the streets?
The Publishing Pusher welcomes special guest R. Joshua Collins—pastor, mathematics instructor, activist, musician, songwriter, singer, and street preacher—to introduce his book, “Preaching and Persecution in Sin City!”
In this autobiographical account, Collins shares his journey from teaching mathematics in Washington State to spending more than ten years living among the poor and homeless while traveling and preaching the gospel. His story leads to Las Vegas, where he describes facing intense persecution and more than 30 arrests.
According to Collins, he fought each case and successfully represented himself against the City of Las Vegas in the case involving his 24th arrest while advocating for the rights of the poor and homeless.
His book explores faith, courage, secularism, Christian witness, and believers' responsibility to stand for Christ. It also presents his perspective on the Christian heritage of the United States.
Meet an author whose experiences connect ministry, public advocacy, and the challenges of putting a deeply personal testimony into print.
