  • Created in May 2020, the Poetry in Medicine podcast seeks to foster empathy and encourage humanism in the daily practice of medicine through poetry. We seek to foster and encourage humanism in medicine. Submissions are permitted and are encouraged. If you would like your poem selected for the podcast, please submit in a Word document with the name of the author and location to poetryinmedicine@gmail.com. Poems must be in English. Podcaster: Dr. Earl Stewart Jr. is an Internal Medicine Physician, Gospel Pianist, Christian Author and Poet. He practices primary care and hospital medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and founded the Poetry In Medicine Podcast in May 2020. He is a frequent medical essayist, blogger, and frequently invited speaker at churches and health fairs. He published “Precious Memories: Reflections for Christian Living” in 2012 and “Words for Today” in 2013. He later published “In Love, With Poetry” in 2019. He has won several local poetry competitions, continues to write poetry, and shares in the belief that poetry can be used to foster humanism and empathy in the healing arts. In October 2018, Dr. Stewart was recognized as one the 2018 “40 Under 40” in the state of Georgia for his career and community service efforts deemed at making a tremendous impact in the lives of fellow citizens across the state and region by Georgia Trend magazine. He resides in Smyrna, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta.
