    Adam Al-Asad, director of operations at Savage Sisters Recovery, talks about the current state of the opioid crisis in Philadelphia and the ways that Savage Sisters is fighting back. Adam provides a boots-on-the-ground perspective of what harm reduction looks like in action and educates us on the challenges that come with that work. Adam's story shows how anyone can get involved in fighting for some of the most vulnerable members of our community and make substantial change in their lives.

  • The Lack of Care in Child Welfare

    This episode takes a deep dive into the inequalities and injustice in the child welfare system. Host Ali Lamb interviews Temple University Professor Sarah Katz, where they discuss Katz's experience and research in the child welfare system. Topics navigated include: should the child welfare system be called something else? Where are we seeing inequalities and injustice in the system? Can we better the system, or should we dismantle it entirely? Katz provides her expertise on the above subjects, and provides her insights and information about her project, the Stoneleigh Foundation.
