With it being late July, there's not a ton going on in the world of WSU sports. But one piece of "news" did make its way out: WSU has decided to switch sidelines for football games -- the Cougars will now occupy the space in front of the "alumni side," while opponents will be in front of the student section.

We kicked off this mailbag episode with our thoughts on that before answering a slew of questions from our premium subscribers. What can we expect from Kirby Moore? Feelings about our new Pac-12 rivals? Ideal tailgate? The proper way to eat corn on the cob?

Spring football practices recently wrapped up, and though we weren't able to watch much of it (due to both us not being in Pullman and WSU's policy of not showing toooooo much on video), some of what happened did filter out, including the fact that the quarterbacks didn't exactly light the world on fire. We discuss what it might mean for the fall.

Then, we move on to David Riley's remake of the basketball team after almost the entire roster hit the portal, which is near completion. Four guys have signed since our last episode, and they're all down-transfers -- which means there's some talent there that Riley is hoping he can unearth. And that's intriguing!

Plus, we talk about the expansion of the NCAA basketball tournaments to 76 teams, the hire of Jon Haarlow as AD, WSU baseball's big weekend coming up, and (of course) beer talk.

We're about two thirds of the way through Kirby Moore's first set of spring football practices, and while there isn't a lot of video out there for us to judge with our own eyes, there are plenty of first-hand reports thanks to increased media access this year.

It doesn't seem like the offense has been lighting it up. But that's ok, we think? We also talk about running back Kirby Vorhees' eye-popping statement: "It's the best defense I've been a part of."

Then, we move on to David Riley's remake of the basketball team after almost the entire roster hit the portal. There's one new guy in particular who we're damn excited about: Division 2 transfer Lazerek Houston. We also take a brief look at the other four players who have committed and try to draw some conclusions about how Riley is trying to rebuild in a program that doesn't have a ton of resources.
