David Zinn, EdD is an assistant professor of sport management in Lander’s College of Business and the NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative. He has been recognized for providing students valuable experiences at major sporting events such as the Super Bowl, PGA golf tournaments and more than 20 other regional sporting events. Dr. Zinn was chosen as the 2025 recipient of the Mary Frances Poole Alston Award. The Alston Award recognizes a Lander faculty or staff member who has made an impact on the campus community.
Rick Eckstein, PhD is a professor of sociology at Villanova University and the author of How College Athletics are Hurting Girls' Sports: the Pay to Play Pipeline. He is currently the co-producer and research director of an upcoming documentary series Beyond Stigma: Mental Health in Women's College Sports.
Toby Brooks, PhD is an educator at Baylor University, author, speaker, podcast host, and lifelong student of human performance, leadership, and resilience. A former athletic trainer and strength coach, Toby has spent more than two decades in higher education helping students, faculty, athletes, and leaders grow through challenge, change, and uncertainty. He is the host of the Becoming UnDone podcast and author of multiple books, including the forthcoming Becoming UnDone. His work focuses on purpose, perseverance, faith, identity, and the process of becoming better through the hard parts of life.
