The Philadelphia Phillies finished 4th in the NL East with an 88-74 record, missing the playoffs despite a strong regular season. Now, with Don Mattingly signed to a two-year deal as manager, the front office faces critical decisions for the upcoming offseason. This episode breaks down where the team stands in the division, analyzing the impact of key players like Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Zack Wheeler.

We examine the Phillies' biggest strengths, including their potent offense led by Harper and Schwarber, and their ace-led rotation featuring Wheeler, Aaron Nola, and Nestor Cortes. Conversely, we address the significant question marks surrounding bullpen reliability and defensive versatility, especially given Dave Dombrowski's comments to Trea Turner about improving at shortstop. The discussion also touches on the catcher competition between J.T. Realmuto and Rafael Marchan.

Finally, we provide a realistic win projection for the 2027 season, targeting 90 wins if the bullpen improves and the rotation stays healthy. Key roster moves, including potential trades or promotions, will define whether the Phillies can climb back up the NL East standings and secure a higher playoff seed.
