The Christ-hymn: existing in the form of God, he did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied himself — down, and down, and therefore up. The most misread word in the hymn, the death Rome would not name politely, and the reversal that ends with every knee bowing. Verse 5 stands over it like a lintel over a door: the portrait is a mirror, and then a command.
