  • Ep. 55 - Catching up on the Farm w/ Jake Engelen: Part 1
    2026/03/10

We sat down with returning guest Jake Engelen to talk about regenerative farming, food labels, and what actually separates marketing from reality. Somewhere between pasture raised eggs and poppy fields in Afghanistan, the conversation turned into something bigger than farming.

We unpacked how terms like organic and regenerative get hijacked, why transparency is so rare, and what happens when profit becomes the primary responsibility. We also went deep into military service, identity after war, and how purpose shapes health more than most people realize.

This one isn’t just about food quality. It’s about integrity, community, and whether we’re asking the right questions about who controls our food, our health, and even our narratives.

If we want better outcomes, we may have to start by looking at what we’re consuming, who we’re trusting, and what kind of life we’re actually building.

  • Ep. 54 - Eat Real Food…What’s To Debate?
    2026/03/03

We keep coming back to the same frustrating truth. In the U.S. we have food everywhere, but a lot of it feels like it’s engineered for convenience and profit instead of health. So when someone new to America says, “How can the food be bad when the shelves are always full,” it forces a real conversation about access versus quality, and why those two things are not the same.

We talk through why so many people feel better when they leave the country, why ultra processed food can be genuinely hard to quit, and how the “personal responsibility” argument gets messy when the system is designed to make the worst options the easiest options. We also get into the Mike Tyson “eat real food” ads, the backlash, the food desert debate, and what it would actually look like to make real food more available and more normal for everyone.

  • Ep. 53 - Cheat Meals and Conspiracies
    2026/02/24

Cheat meals sound harmless until they turn into a whole weekend, a bunch of inflammation, and that Monday scramble to “get back on track.” We get into why we don’t even love the term cheat meal, what changed for us as we got more consistent with whole foods, and why our off plan meals naturally went from weekly to more like monthly.

We talk about the real pattern we see most often, being too strict during the week, then going completely off the rails, and how that swing can wreck your energy, your cravings, and your progress. We also get honest about sugar, texture cravings, and the difference between someone who can have one bite and someone who can’t.

Then we pivot into something bigger. Why questioning the system gets labeled as “conspiracy,” what history says about informed consent, and why we think asking better questions is part of taking your health back.

  • Ep. 52 - Cheese, Pharma, and You
    2026/02/17

We ended up talking about two things that keep popping up lately: people are way more curious about health than they used to be, and they are also getting hit with a lot of flashy wellness noise that feels impossible to keep up with.

So we zoomed in on the basics that actually move the needle. We walked through a list of surprisingly nutrient dense foods, including organ meats, eggs, salmon, sardines, oysters, and what we actually do if we want the benefits without forcing ourselves to chew something we hate. Then we went down a rabbit hole on the cheese problem, including why some shredded cheese can mess with people who are gluten sensitive, how rennet works, and why we got skeptical when we learned how much cheese in the U.S. uses fermentation produced chymosin and who helped commercialize it.

We wrapped by coming back to something we keep saying over and over: the scale is not the whole story. If you care about health long term, body composition and muscle matter way more than obsessing over weight alone.

  • Ep. 51 - The Obesity Gene: Fact or Fiction?
    2026/02/10

We got into the whole “obesity gene” narrative that’s popping up everywhere lately, including Oprah’s take, and why it sounds convincing until you look closer. We’re not pretending genetics don’t matter at all. We’re questioning the way this message is being framed like it’s settled, like there’s nothing you can do, and like the only real answer is a prescription.

From there, we talked about how accountability can get twisted into shame, but avoiding it completely can turn into a trap. We also went down a few connected rabbit holes, including what “food noise” might actually be, how ultra processed food keeps getting a pass, and why celebrity endorsements and health advice are a messy combo.

Then we shifted into fake food and what’s showing up in real testing, like Florida finding elevated arsenic in a bunch of popular candies and heavy metals in baby formula samples. We ended by zooming out on the bigger pattern: fortified and enriched labels that often hide a long ingredient list, lab made “wild type” salmon and 3D printed eggs, and why we keep seeing money and influence push people toward synthetic fixes instead of simpler, more sustainable habits.

  • Ep. 50 - Are Seed Oils Really That Big Of A Deal?
    2026/02/03

We start today a little frazzled, a little late, and fully committed to keeping it real, with Maggie Moo chiming in as our unofficial co host. Then we jump into the seed oil debate, why it’s so divisive in the health world, and why our take is skeptical but not fear based. We talk about how seed oils show up everywhere, why the “it’s just a little bit” argument adds up fast, and what linoleic acid has to do with inflammation, oxidative stress, and how we feel day to day.

We also unpack the Vital Farms situation, what happens when trusted brands scale or get bought, and why “pasture raised” doesn’t always mean what we think it means. We wrap with the real life changes we noticed after cutting seed oils, plus a simple way to start without going zero to hero.

  • Ep. 49 - Glyphosate: Pesticide OR Healthicide?!
    2026/01/27

We start with a simple question that turns into a bigger one: how do some people stay strong and sharp well into their 90s, and what are they doing that we’re not? From a 90 year old knocking out real push ups to the routines, relationships, and purpose that seem to keep people moving, we talk about what “aging well” looks like in real life and how training changes without stopping.

Then we shift into the heavier stuff: glyphosate, Roundup, and why a retracted study still seems to shape the conversation. We unpack what we’re seeing, what we’re skeptical of, and why this matters if you’re trying to lower your toxic load in a world where avoiding it feels impossible.

We wrap with something we keep coming back to: titles don’t replace critical thinking. Our health is still our responsibility and we can trust but verify.

  • Ep. 48 - They FINALLY Got It Right
    2026/01/20

In this episode, we start with a simple question that somehow turns into a whole worldview: why are people so rushed and careless in everyday life, from shopping carts to gym weights, and what does that say about their health. From there, we get into what’s changed with the new food pyramid and why a protein forward, real food approach feels like a big deal after decades of grain heavy guidance. We also talk through osteoporosis and osteopenia, why bone density starts trending the wrong way earlier than most people think, and how strength training, better nutrition, and fewer comfort shortcuts can change the outcome. Along the way, we question the appeal to authority, the noise around saturated fat and cholesterol, and the return of skinny-tok culture that pushes frailty like it’s a goal.
