  • “Sometimes I Doubt God’s Promises” – Perry
    2025/05/16

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.” (2 Cor. 1:20)

Bible scholar Dr. Jeremy Grinnell joins the team to take on Bible questions.

Sometimes Perry doubts God’s promises. But he’s growing in trust because the passage above is starting to sink in! Every promise of God will be fulfilled and every promise is ultimately pointing to one staggering truth. And Jeremy unpacks it!

Then Stephanie asks: “In John 16:7 Jesus said, ‘but in fact, it is best for you if I go away, because if I don't, the Advocate won't come.’ Why did Jesus have to leave in order for the Holy Spirit to come? Why couldn't they both be on earth?” How could it possibly be better for Jesus to leave?

Next, Todd’s question: “What's your position on ‘Once saved always saved?’ “ And last Perry is fresh off his trip with his bride to Ireland. At the Cliffs of Moher he was reprimanded by a park worker. He was rude to her and then the Holy Spirit said, “Go back and apologize!?” A conversation about the power of kindness.

Dr. Emilie DeYoung, Clinical Director and Counselor at Winning at Home, shares three things we can look for to help us discern if what our child is experiencing is a normal “life lesson” or if it’s time to access a professional.

    Dr. Emilie also:

    • Answers a listener’s question about giving our children words for their feelings as early as 2 – is it helpful or hurtful?
    • Emphasizes the importance of validating emotions while not allowing them to drive our decisions.
    • Empowers parents as the primary influence in their child’s life, even when you get the big eye roll.
    • Explains the five factors’ parents and families can adopt to promote resilience in their families.

Also, your children can be your greatest teacher. Shawna shares three things her oldest daughter taught her in the short time she was stateside – lessons that have changed how she lives and how she enters every day.

  • Strong and Secure – Michelle Nietert
    2025/05/13

What launches us into life strong and secure? Knowing the Father heart of God – His protection, healing, peace, provision, and presence.

Christian counselor, speaker, and author, Michelle Nietert, coauthor with Lynn Cowell of Strong and Secure: 100 Devotions for Young Women says, “We believe that God desires a deep and intimate relationship with each of us”.

Leaving what is familiar to step into the unknown can be exciting and scary at the same time. In order to fully swing into the new, we need to let go of what was. As we do we can fix our eyes and God trusting that He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

  • I Feel Like God Has Abandoned Me
    2025/05/12

Shawna’s daughter remembers being left at Costco, but Shawna remembers it differently. Shawna admits there have been times she felt God had abandoned her. But God remembers it differently. He didn’t leave. He never does. God is with you. You were created for a relationship with Him by Him! He’s not going to leave you.

Listener, Dawn, calls in to share when she lost her grandson God pressed deeper into her heart how he made us for relationship with Him. And that He was with her just as He was with her grandson.

What are you learning about obedience? As Shawna watched her daughter’s Australian Shepherd obey as slowly as a dog possibly could she saw herself in him. There are times when her obedience to God has been soooooo slow it was hardly recognizable that she was moving at all.

Listener, Jess, shares how her obedience led to greater surrender which is leading her to into her God-given destiny. Through obedience and surrender she is doing things she never thought she would – things God had planned for her before she even took her first breath!

  • I’m in The Pit of Anxiety Right Now
    2025/05/09

Do you feel rested and at peace? Or are you bombarded with obstacles keeping you from true soul rest?

Tessa Afshar, author of The Rested Soul, in an attempt to “rejection proof” her life landed instead in a pit of anxiety. She found the rest her soul was longing for in the One who will never reject you.

As Tessa shares her journey from anxiety to a rested soul she leaves breadcrumbs for us to find our way there too with truths like:

    • God uses the pits in our lives even when they are painful.
    • As long as we stay attached to Jesus we’ll get to the other side.
    • Find scripture that speaks to your situation and let it anchor you.
    • Know that God is shaping your character so that you are ready for what is still ahead.

Exhale. Heal. And find rest for your anxious soul in God.

  • Who’s Your Biggest Enemy?
    2025/05/08

    Maybe it’s YOU!

When we feel attacked our brains slip into enemy mode. In other words, when we feel that someone is not for us, we assume that they are against us, and it’s game on!

Longtime author and neuropsychologist, Dr. Jim Wilder, says we can be in enemy mode for a moment, a longer period of time, or allof the time. He joins us to talk about Escaping Enemy Mode: How Our Brains Unite or Divide Us.

In this brain state of “enemy mode” we fight to win but we were created to be in relationship – to love. The way out of enemy mode is to remember that we actually want to be in relationship with one another. And to be reminded of who we are in Christ.

Jim gives solid advice for loving others well by helping them get out of enemy mode, even if they can’t see initially that you are acting in love.

Relationships are hard and messy. Understanding how to escape enemy mode will help us to stay connected with one another and ultimately to be who God created us to be.

  • I Once Was Found, Now I’m Lost
    2025/05/06

It wasn’t one big event that caused her to doubt her faith, it was more like a million paper cuts.

Niki Hardy, author of God, Can We Chat? knows what it’s like to look for answers and certainty to save your faith, but the truth is, certainty is a fickle friend. God and faith are a mystery after all.

Looking at her today: missionary from the UK, Christian author, and international speaker - you’d never guess that she would wrestle with doubt. But when Niki lost her mom to cancer, then her sister, and was diagnosed with cancer herself she feared she might lose her faith altogether.

Yes, our questions hold power but not to destroy or weaken our faith, but strengthen it - one honest chat at a time.
