  • Electric Wisdom: How to Stop Taking Other People’s Frustrations Personally
    2026/11/05

Do you constantly ask yourself, "What did I do wrong?" whenever someone around you is stressed, flaky, or frustrated? In this episode, Brandon and Holly dive deep into the subtle art of emotional boundaries and depersonalization. Drawing from the coaching insights captured in a recent coaching, they explore how to stop internalizing other people's chaos. You will learn why your own consistency might be triggering the people around you, how to tell the difference between your own blind spots and someone else’s projections, and when it is finally time to stop fixing people and simply accept them as they are. If you are exhausted by managing other people's emotions, this conversation will help you reclaim your energy.

    • Release the burden of their emotions. You are not responsible for other people's feelings. Chronic self-blame is often a childhood protection mechanism designed to keep you safe by balancing out stressed adults.
    • Consistency triggers insecurity. When you do the internal work and become highly reliable, your clear energy acts as a mirror. This naturally highlights other people's inconsistencies, often causing them to project their own self-frustration onto you.
    • The power of depersonalization. True emotional freedom means allowing people to feel their feelings and act their age without making it your job to manage, change, or fix their emotional state.
    • Self-reflection vs. Acceptance. You can distinguish between needing to correct your own behavior versus accepting theirs by looking at your internal state. If you are trying to force an outcome out of frustration, check your own motives; if you are calmly observing their repeating patterns, it is time to practice acceptance.

  • Episode 85: Permission to Zoom Out
    2026/11/02

In this episode of Permission to Evolve, host Brandon Thielk and co-host/producer Holly Deschenes discuss “permission to zoom out” as a coaching frame for reducing day-to-day stress by tracing recurring patterns back to their origins, often in childhood. Brandon explains that fixation on present problems—like difficult coworkers—often mirrors unresolved dynamics with parents, and that healing the root can create foundational shifts rather than endlessly addressing surface situations. They explore how to “fall in love with friction” by viewing challenges as growth opportunities tied to expansion/contraction cycles, increasing capacity, and dismantling limiting beliefs. The conversation covers victimhood and extreme self-reliance as survival strategies, the role of overthinking as a stress response, and using embodiment, breathing, depersonalization, and better questions to gain perspective. Brandon shares ways to connect for coaching via brandonthielk.com and his newsletter and social channels.
