  • Perko's Podcast: Episode 006: How to Start a Generosity Movement in Your Neighbourhood and City with Stu Davis
    2020/05/04
Welcome to Episode 006 of Perko's Podcast with my good friend Stu Davis from COSiloveyou, a city wide gospel movement in Colorado Springs, CO.
Stu Davis has spent the last 15 years working both in and alongside churches, businesses, and nonprofits, seeking to build unity and collaboration around some of Colorado Springs’ biggest challenges. He recently spent 4 years in leadership at Springs Rescue Mission, where he helped bring over 50 churches alongside private and public funders to establish Colorado Springs’ first and largest low-barrier homeless shelter and resource center. Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade on the pastoral staff at Woodmen Valley Chapel, one of Colorado’s largest churches. As Executive Director of COSILoveYou, Stu enjoys working with the breadth and variety represented among the local Church, and has been a part of the COSILoveYou movement since its genesis in 2014.
In addition to his work in the faith and nonprofit communities, Stu loves coaching his son’s youth soccer team and serving on the board of the Community Roundtable, a local organization connecting large and small faith-based nonprofits in Colorado Springs. A recent graduate of the selective Colorado Springs Leadership Institute, Stu recently received his Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University. Most importantly, he has been married to Abby (also a Taylor grad) for 19 years, and has three teenage children (Maryn, Raina, and Kemper).

  • BONUS EPISODE: Slowing Down
    2020/09/02
    G'day Everyone!
Here we want to help you reach your personal and professional goals without losing your soul. Our goal is to have the next generation of leaders reach their goals and at the same time say, "it is well with my soul."
You may have heard us talk about Sabbath once or twice here on Perko's Podcast...and as you may have seen already, we take a break every 6 episodes to take a Sabbath from the podcast in addition to our weekly Sabbath to prepare for the next 6 episodes.
We still wanted to be with you this week and provide you with some helpful content that we hope will help you care for your soul even better. If you missed our first bonus episode about Sabbath, make sure to check that out. The episode today was pre-recorded from a message series I did about How To Live Like Jesus, and it is all about slowing down.
I like to say now, "Life's not a race, so live at a slower pace."
We hope you enjoy today's episode!

  • Perko's Podcast Episode 034: Journey of the Soul Part Two w/ Bill and Kristie Gaultiere
    2022/02/23

    Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!

It is my pleasure to speak with Bill and Kristie Gaultiere today on the podcast...

Bill is a psychologist and ordained pastor, specializing in ministry to pastors. He and Kristi are the authors of Journey of the Soul, which was #1 on Amazon in Christian Counseling. He was personally mentored for many years by Dallas Willard and Ray Ortlund Sr. His earlier book Your Best Life in Jesus’ Easy Yoke tells the story of his spiritual renewal from anxious living and burnout and introduces the message and way of Soul Shepherding.

As a Spiritual Formation Pastor, he’s served in a mega-church and a church plant. He’s also trained over 1,000 lay counselors and taught courses in Christian psychology and spirituality at the graduate school level. He and Kristi train pastors and other men and women in ministry in their Soul Shepherding Institute and Spiritual Direction certificate program. Bill has been speaking in churches and conferences since 1987 and especially enjoys speaking with Kristi. You can listen to their weekly Soul Talks podcast or read their weekly Soul Shepherding blog, which we will also link for you in the show notes.

Kristi is a psychotherapist and spiritual director for women in ministry and pastors’ wives. She co-leads Soul Shepherding with Bill. She was personally mentored by Jane Willard and Dr. Jan Stoop. As a pastor’s wife, mother, and ministry professional, Kristi offers empathy and wisdom from her experience personally and as a therapist who has spent many thousands of hours caring for people. Kristi enjoys speaking, training, teaching, consulting, counseling, and retreat leading with Bill, as well as recording their weekly Soul Talks podcast.

I enjoyed talking to Bill and Kristie about their newest book, Journey of the Soul, and I hope that this conversation and these resources will also be helpful for you in your own soul care journey. Let’s begin the conversation with Bill and Kristie…

  • Perko's Podcast: Episode 017: Finding Freedom After Grief w/ Rachel Faulkner Brown Part Two
    2020/10/16
    Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!
I hope that you are doing well in your part of the world, and that wherever this episode today reaches you that you will be able to say "it is well with my soul." My podcast guest today, Rachel, has an incredible story. She has experienced the depths of grief and has found freedom through a relationship with Jesus. I'm so excited for her to share her story with you. Let me re-introduce you as we continue out conversation...
Rachel Faulkner Brown is a girl with a past like your worst nightmare and a present that is pretty darn fun. She has lived through losing two husbands tragically in an instant, one to an aneurysm and one in an Air Force plane crash. She loves marriage so much that she took a chance on it again and married the most interesting man in the world who is their rock and secret weapon on most days. Her favorite jobs are being a wife, and being a mom to her two teenagers, Davis and Campbell. Her role as a mom is the hardest most rewarding thing she's have ever done or will do.
Rachel loves ministering to women. Whether she's on the road speaking, writing bible studies, or creating healing retreats for widows, she just loves the younger version of the girl she once was. You know the ones….bored Christians who know there has got to be something better, emotionally bankrupt, broken, and great at hiding. Yes, that was her. She loves freedom more than anything else on earth and finds herself saying at least once a day..it is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. She really wants to be your friend and she would love to take you bargain shopping and walk out of a store in a new outfit that cost you less than a cup of fancy coffee. Jesus, healing, freedom and my family are her jam.

    2021/02/25
    Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!
Today on the podcast is one of my very good friends, Sean Seay. Sean was the facilitator of a monthly conference call that I was part of for many years. Each month I looked forward to the calls that he would facilitate. I have learned so much about life and leadership from him. He truly is a leader who intentionally cares for his soul and the souls of those around him whilst reaching some significant goals along the way.
Sean Seay is the lead pastor of Athens Church in Athens, GA. Sean and his wife Bonnie met and were married during their college years. They have three amazing children, Boone, Bryson, and Lola. Sean is a pastor and a communicator, but has a real passion for leading the church. As you will hear in today’s conversation, Sean’s passion for leading well at work almost destroyed his home life.
We are continuing our conversation today. If you missed part one last week, make sure you take a listen to catch up!

Here we want to help you reach your personal and professional goals without losing your soul. Our goal is to have the next generation of leaders reach their goals and at the same time say, "it is well with my soul."
Today's podcast guest is my friend Glenn Packiam that I had the pleasure of getting to know during my time in Colorado Springs. Glenn Packiam is the Associate Senior Pastor at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Lead Pastor of one of its congregations, New Life Downtown. He is the author of six books, including his forthcoming release, “Worship and the World to Come” and his most recent release, “Blessed Broken Given: How Your Story Becomes Sacred in the Hands of Jesus”. Glenn and his wife Holly and their four kids enjoy life in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In part one of this episode, Glenn shared some insights into how he has reached so many of his goals by maximizing little windows of time throughout his day, like waiting in his car or an hour before he goes to bed.
