God’s blessing is deeper than getting what we want or avoiding hardship; it is living under the attentive favor of God and trusting Him even when doing what is right is costly. In 1 Peter 3:8–17, we see what the blessed life looks like, how to position our lives to experience more of God’s blessing, and how to share that blessing with others.

Peter learned the hard way that pressure can make us turn inward, rely on ourselves, and protect what we have. In 1 Peter 4:7–11, he shows us a better way: depend on God, love people deeply, and use what God has given you for the good of others and the glory of Jesus.

Jesus suffered and won, and everyone who belongs to Him shares in His victory. That means we can choose obedience over comfort now because no sacrifice, suffering, or even death gets the final word.

Suffering is an unavoidable part of following Jesus, but 1 Peter 4:12–19 reminds us that hardship does not mean God has abandoned us. Instead of being surprised or discouraged by suffering, we can rejoice in Christ, remain faithful in doing what is right, and trust our lives to the God who will never fail us.

How do you respond when you’re treated unfairly and tempted to get even? In 1 Peter 2:18–25, we see that Jesus is both our example of faithful suffering and our Savior who enables us to keep doing what is right.

Christian freedom doesn’t mean no one gets to tell us what to do; it means sin, culture, and other people no longer own us because we belong to God. In 1 Peter 2:13-17, Peter shows how that freedom transforms the way we respond to authority, love the church, honor everyone, and point a watching world toward Jesus.

Peter shows that God raises us up to new life, builds us together as His people with Jesus as the cornerstone, and sends us out with a new purpose. Because we belong to Christ, our lives should both display His goodness through the way we live and declare His goodness by telling others what He has done. Chandler Hash
