We are not broken. We are patterned.

Patterns to Purpose was formerly called The Return — same voice, same show, new name.

Somewhere along the way most of us learned how to be safe, how to be useful, how to be the woman who holds it all together, and those patterns worked. They worked so well that we forgot they were ever something we chose. Now we are in the second half of our lives, we have done all the things we were told would be enough, and there is still a quiet feeling that something got left behind.

Patterns to Purpose is a weekly conversation about what that feeling actually is.

Every Wednesday I sit down with one ordinary thing, a habit, a reaction, a belief you have never once said out loud, and we look at what is living underneath it. Not to fix it, and not to take ourselves apart, because the pattern was never the problem. It was the protection. What changes things is finding out what it has been protecting.

This is a quiet show. No shouting, no five easy steps, no before and after picture of a woman who is finally acceptable. Just a woman who has walked this, talking with women who are walking it now, at the pace the work actually asks for.

Your soul has been waiting.

  • The Table's Quiet Lesson: How Childhood Shapes Love
    2026/09/23

A woman reflects on a childhood memory at the dinner table and how small, unspoken routines taught her what she thought love meant.

She explains how those silent lessons become lifelong patterns, how one simple change can shift a family's dynamic, and urges listeners to notice what children are learning from everyday moments.

    In this episode, you'll hear:

    • What a child takes from a house, and why it's almost never the words

    • How a habit gets handed down without anyone teaching it

    • The one ordinary thing at my own table that changed, and how little it took

    • Why you don't have to be finished with your own work to be the place the line turns

    • What to do with all of this if you have no daughter, no granddaughter, and no children at all

    • Why the ordinary evening in front of you is the one that gets remembered

This is the third of four episodes on what happens in the weeks after you see the rule you've been living by.

If this episode named something you've been carrying, know that I walk this work with women directly, one question at a time, at the pace it actually asks for. That's at thrivebydesignwomen.coach/enter, whenever you're ready.

  • The Sunday Call: What Happens When You Stop Being the Anchor
    2026/09/16

This episode explores what happens when a woman who has been the emotional anchor for others finally sets a boundary, using the recurring Sunday phone call as an example. It unpacks how long-standing, unspoken patterns form, why stopping them can feel like betrayal, and how people around you respond.

The host offers practical guidance: say one true thing without explaining, expect silence and guilt, and give the change a full year to see who adjusts and who doesn’t. The episode is about naming old rules, preserving your sense of self, and discovering clearer relationships.

If you've ever changed one small thing about what you do for other people, and had the people you love look at you like you'd changed the locks, this episode is for you. In the first five minutes I put you in your own kitchen on that Sunday, and I say out loud what the call was really holding up, and who was standing on it.

    In this episode, you'll hear:

    • Why the people closest to you may be the last ones to be glad about a change that's good for you
    • The three things people do when you stop carrying something, and what each one is really telling you
    • Why explaining your reasons hands the decision about your life back to the person you're explaining to
    • The one tell that shows you've slipped back into the old habit without noticing
    • Where the guilt at two in the morning comes from, and why it's not proof you did something wrong
    • Who's still standing beside you a year later, and what that tells you

This is the second of four episodes on what happens in the weeks after you see the rule you've been living by.

  • When the House Goes Quiet: Reclaiming Your Empty Hours
    2026/09/09

This episode explores the quiet, unsettling afternoons that follow a lifetime of caretaking and constant vigilance. It explains the childhood rule many women still live by — that if someone is unhappy, it’s their job to fix it — and how recognizing that pattern opens the door to change.

The host describes the grief, bodily lag, and temptation to refill free hours immediately, and offers a gentle invitation to sit with empty time, notice what arises, and begin to reclaim a life lived for yourself.
