I am so honored to share this incredible story about my friend, Pastor Jack Gaines--a humble African-American pastor in Portsmouth, Virginia who did something no American has ever done. Pastor Jack and Pastor Romain Zannou from Benin, Africa, organized the first-ever Reconciliation Conference in Benin in 1999 where the President of Benin officially apologized to African-Americans for selling their ancestors into slavery via the European slave traders! Here is the Charisma magazine article about this historic event: https://bobfox.org/the-apology-that-s... Pastor Jack did a lot of other remarkable things here in Hampton Roads but God used him to make history in this story. We all miss him! The one-hour version of this story can be seen here: • Historic Apology by African President... This video shows African chiefs apologizing for their ancestors' part in selling fellow Africans to the slave trade: • Delegates from African Countries apol... These videos make a great and redemptive contribution to Black History Month in the United States--and hopefully to the history of Africa.
