In the 20th episode of the PP3 podcast, the boys dive into their Western Conference predictions, early standouts and letdowns in the NHL preseason, a fresh update on the VIJHL, and the debut of this season’s "Getcha Stepping" segment.
This week’s special guest is Carter Johnson (*44:35*), a Winnipeg native who made waves after joining the Oceanside Generals in 2020. In his shortened first season during the pandemic, CJ still managed to put up 8 points in just 12 games. But it was in the 2021-2022 season that he truly exploded, racking up 92 points in 47 games, earning him the Top Forward Award in the VIJHL and leading the Generals to their first finals appearance since 2008. As a co-captain in his final year of Junior B, CJ outdid himself with 103 points in 42 games and scored the championship-clinching goal in Game 6 of the finals. Now playing university hockey with the Jamestown Jimmies in North Dakota, CJ capped off a strong freshman year with 22 points in 34 games.
In this episode, the boys sit down for an hour of locker room banter, touching on everything from CJ's Junior B hockey journey to his infamous high school moment where he racked up over $2,000 on his mom’s credit card buying HUT packs—and even the time he spent a night on the concrete floors inside a Nanaimo PD cell.
