  • Who Taught You How to Eat?
    2026/08/27

What if your relationship with food has far less to do with willpower than with the meanings, memories, and emotional associations you formed long before you were old enough to understand them?

In this episode of Potentiality, I am joined by Jaini Shah, a Rapid Transformational Therapist, food relationship coach, and certified life coach whose own journey took her from corporate law to exploring the deeper psychological roots of fear, food, health, and human behavior. After transforming her own relationship with food and experiencing profound changes through Rapid Transformational Therapy, Jaini devoted her work to helping others uncover the subconscious beliefs and childhood patterns that continue to shape their adult lives.

We explore the invisible emotional architecture beneath our eating habits. Why do we reach for certain foods when we are stressed, lonely, tired, or overwhelmed? Why can someone know exactly what they should eat and still find themselves repeating the same patterns? And what becomes possible when, instead of fighting our behavior with restriction and willpower, we become curious about the unmet need beneath it?

One of the most powerful ideas in this conversation is that food freedom is emotional freedom. When food becomes the substitute for comfort, love, connection, reward, or relief, changing what is on the plate may never address what is actually driving the behavior. Real change begins when we learn to recognize the need underneath the craving and meet that need more consciously.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

How Childhood Experiences Quietly Shape Our Adult Relationship With Food

Why Food Can Become Connected to Love, Comfort, Safety, Reward, and Belonging

How Emotional Needs Can Show Up as Food Cravings

What Rapid Transformational Therapy Is and How Janie Uses It to Explore Subconscious Patterns

Why Restriction Alone Often Fails to Create a Sustainable Relationship With Food

How Food Marketing Reinforces Emotional Associations We May Already Carry

Why Self-Worth and Identity Can Become Entangled With Health and Eating Behaviors

How Parents Can Avoid Unintentionally Teaching Children to Use Food for Comfort or Reward

Why Protecting Children's Natural Hunger and Fullness Cues Matters

How Family Meals, Mindful Eating, and the Language We Use Around Food Can Shape Lifelong Patterns

What Could Become Possible If Children Grew Up Free From the Food Noise So Many Adults Spend Their Lives Trying to Undo

The larger question is not simply what we eat. It is who taught us how to eat, what we learned food meant, and whether those meanings still serve us today.

For parents and educators, this awareness carries an even deeper responsibility. We have an opportunity to help children develop a relationship with food grounded in awareness, intuition, nourishment, and trust rather than restriction, reward, guilt, or emotional dependency. Jaini invites us to imagine the adults those children might become: people free from constant food noise and able to make conscious choices without spending enormous amounts of mental and emotional energy negotiating with themselves about what they should or should not eat.

  • Rethinking Disability, Reimagining Education
    2026/08/07

What if inclusive education isn't about helping children with disabilities fit into existing schools, but about creating schools where every child truly belongs?

In this episode, I am joined by Syuzanna Petrosyan, the founder and Executive Director of Inclusion Armenia, whose work has transformed the landscape of inclusive education in Armenia. Through teacher training, family support, national policy development, and community advocacy, Syuzanna has dedicated her career to helping educators move beyond labels and stereotypes toward a fundamentally different understanding of disability, belonging, and human potential.

We explore one of the most profound shifts education can make: moving from asking "What is wrong with this child?" to asking "What does this child need to flourish?"

This conversation challenges the deeply rooted assumption that inclusion is a specialized educational approach designed for a small group of children. Instead, Syuzanna reveals why true inclusion is about creating learning environments that recognize, support, and value the uniqueness of every learner.

We examine why children with disabilities are often limited not by their diagnoses but by the environments created around them. We discuss the critical role of teacher mindset, family partnerships, strengths-based education, and the emotional safety that allows every child to develop a healthy sense of identity and belonging.

Syuzanna shares powerful stories from her work across Armenia, illustrating how small shifts in understanding can transform not only individual children but entire school communities.

This conversation is about far more than disability. It is about reimagining education itself. What becomes possible when we design schools around human diversity rather than human conformity? What changes when belonging becomes the foundation of learning rather than its reward? And how might education evolve if every child were first seen as a person with strengths, gifts, and untapped potential?

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    - How to Rethink Disability Through the Lens of Human Potential

    - Why Inclusive Education Benefits Every Child, Not Only Those with Disabilities

    - How Teacher Mindset Shapes Children's Sense of Belonging

    - Why Strengths-Based Education Creates Better Learning Outcomes

    - The Critical Role Families Play in Inclusive Education

    - How Safe and Supportive Environments Unlock Human Potential

    - Why Social Belonging Is Essential for Cognitive and Emotional Development

    - How Art, Movement, and Creativity Reach Children Beyond Traditional Instruction

    - Why Every Child Needs to Be Seen Before They Can Truly Learn

    - How Inclusive Education Can Transform Schools, Communities, and Society

If education is ultimately about helping every child realize their fullest potential, then inclusion cannot remain a specialized practice. It must become the foundation upon which education itself is built. This conversation invites us to rethink not only how we support children with disabilities, but how we create learning environments where every child is seen, valued, and given the opportunity to flourish.

  • Preventing Teacher Burnout
    2026/07/31

Burnout is often misunderstood as working too hard or caring too much. In reality, it is the gradual depletion of the inner resources that allow us to remain present, resilient, and deeply connected to ourselves and others.

For educators and parents, the consequences extend far beyond personal wellbeing. The emotional state of the adult shapes the emotional climate in which children learn, grow, and develop. Teacher wellbeing is not separate from student success. It is one of its most essential conditions.

In this episode of Potentiality, I am joined by a psychologist, researcher, and the founder of Inner Science Lab, Mary Sarikyan, for a thoughtful exploration of burnout prevention through the lens of positive psychology, wellbeing science, and human development.

Together, we examine why recovery is different from rest, how small daily practices build lasting resilience, and why cultivating the inner life of educators may be one of the most powerful investments we can make in the future of education.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Why burnout is not simply physical exhaustion, but the depletion of our inner resources

    • The difference between rest and genuine recovery—and why vacations alone are rarely enough

    • Mary Sarikyan's wellbeing scale, from surviving at "minus ten" to flourishing at "plus ten"

    • The daily practices that build resilience before burnout takes hold

    • Why self-compassion is a professional necessity rather than a personal luxury

    • How a strengths-based approach transforms both teacher wellbeing and student development

    • Barbara Fredrickson's concept of positivity resonance and the profound influence of authentic human connection in the classroom

    • Why the emotional state of the educator becomes the emotional climate of the learning environment

    • Practical strategies educators and parents can begin using immediately to expand their capacity for wellbeing

This conversation offers a compelling reminder that education is fundamentally relational. Before children learn from our words, they learn from our presence. When we invest in the wellbeing of the adults who guide them, we create the conditions in which both children and educators can truly flourish.
