• 87. PMDD Root Causes Part 2: Serotonin Dysregulation

    We're continuing on with our PMDD Root Causes series, and today we're chatting about serotonin dysregulation.

    This episode has so much overlap to last week's episode, where we talked about how the GABA-A receptors misfire during the luteal phase.

    The main issue again here is sensitivity: the receptors not responding well to a normal hormone, or in this case, neurotransmitter.

    I talk about the physiology behind it, but take a deep dive into:

    1) nervous system regulation, specifically helping you assess why you're doing what you're doing, and

    2) gut health & nutrition, about how this is the foundation for emotional regulation and feeling in control of your thoughts and emotions every cycle.

    Okay, I'm back! It's been awhile, hasn't it?! But I'm so thankful for the time and space to recalibrate and focus on what God is wanting me to share with you!

    I'm so excited about this shift! And so excited to really, fully jump into the topic and struggle of PMDD from a Biblical, faith-based, natural and evidence-based perspective! I think it's needed.

    We've all been in the situation. We're doing the very things we know do not help us feel better. In fact, they bring on the anxiety again. They make us have that impending doom feeling. We get all the very familiar symptoms back.

    And we ask ourselves, why? Why am I keeping on doing these habits?! It just doesn't make any sense!
