​A virtuous saint living in an ashram along the banks of the Ganges River dedicated his life to guiding local villagers and helping them solve their problems. One day, while preaching good habits to a gathering under a tree, an ant fell on him and bit his hand.

​Seeing this, a man nearby moved to kill the ant, but the saint gently stopped him and safely released the ant a short distance away. When asked why he spared a creature that had just hurt him, the saint explained:

​The Ant's Nature: Biting is its innate instinct, and despite being such a tiny creature, it did not abandon its natural nature.

​The Saint's Nature: Kindness and compassion are the natural traits of a saint. If even an ant refuses to give up its nature, he, as a saint, should certainly not abandon his goodness.

​Moral: Never abandon your core goodness and positive nature, even when others act negatively toward you.

Gangadhara, a cowherd, noticed a snake coming out of an ant-hill near his cattle shed. He offered it a bowl of milk and prayed for its blessings and a mythical precious gem (mani). The snake drank the milk and dropped a gem into the bowl before leaving. Satisfied with this exchange, Gangadhara made it a daily routine to feed the snake milk in return for a single gem each day.

​When Gangadhara had to visit a neighboring village, he instructed his son to continue the daily routine. However, his son was greedy and foolish. Thinking he could get all the gems at once by killing the snake and digging up the ant-hill, he attacked the snake with a stick when it emerged. The snake dodged the blow and bit the son, killing him instantly.

​Despite grieving his son, Gangadhara's greed remained. The next morning, he placed milk near the ant-hill again and asked the snake to continue their friendship, blaming his son for his own death. The snake refused, stating, "You are here only out of greed for gems. The memory of your dead son will always stand between us, making true friendship impossible." Saying this, the snake abandoned the ant-hill and vanished forever.

Extreme greed leads to destruction. Once trust and friendship are broken, they can never be restored to what they used to be.

​Two goats approached a very narrow log bridge spanning a deep, fast-flowing river from opposite directions. The bridge was so narrow that there was barely enough room for one goat to step aside. Driven by ego and pride, neither goat was willing to yield. Viewing stepping back as a humiliation, they began to argue and eventually engaged in a fierce fight. Piercing each other with their horns until they bled, they lost their balance in the struggle and fell into the rushing river, losing their lives.

​Shortly after, two other goats met at the very same narrow bridge. One goat politely explained its urgency and asked if the other could help make room. Recognizing the situation with empathy and kindness, the second goat carefully crouched down to let the first goat walk over it safely. Once the first goat crossed, the second goat got up and continued its journey.

​When Nirmala and her mother broke the bread at home, they found a gold coin hidden inside. Demonstrating their honesty, Nirmala's mother sent her back to return the coin to the landlord. Upon seeing her, the landlord smiled and explained that he had intentionally placed the coin in the smallest loaf to reward the child who remained content and patient without fighting. He gifted the gold coin to Nirmala for her exemplary character.

A magician visits King Krishnadevaraya's court and mesmerizes everyone with his incredible magic tricks. However, consumed by pride over the applause, he arrogantly challenges, "Is there anyone in your kingdom who can match my talent?"

​To humble his ego, Tenali Ramakrishna steps forward and puts a unique condition: "You must do with your eyes open what I do with my eyes closed." Ramakrishna then closes his eyes, sprinkles chili powder on his eyelids, and washes it off with water. Realizing that doing this with open eyes would blind him, the magician admits defeat and begs for forgiveness.

​Shivayya: Arriving at the scene, he insisted the demon release his son and take his life instead.

​Shivayya’s Father: He intervened, offering his own life, reasoning that the younger generation still had their whole lives ahead of them.

​Shivayya’s Wife: She arrived next, begging to sacrifice herself to spare her husband and family.

​The Daughter: Finally, she stepped forward, arguing that the whole ordeal happened because of her wedding jewels, so she should be the one to pay the price.

​Seeing this selfless love, devotion, and willingness to sacrifice for one another, the demon was deeply moved to tears. This powerful act of pure love broke a curse on the demon, instantly transforming him back into his true form—a Gandharva (a divine celestial being).

​Grateful for his redemption, the Gandharva blessed the family with immense wealth, gifts, and prosperity before vanishing into thin air. The family then returned home safely, bound tighter than ever by love.
