PAMOJA TURNING POINT — STORY V

THE EXCUSE

A Mother’s Instinct and a Divine Detour

She knew something was changing. She didn’t know what God was about to do.

At seventeen, he was a Christian living between two worlds.

He had given his life to Jesus at eleven, learned to pray and fast, taught Sunday school, and experienced the presence of God. Yet beneath his Christian identity, something was changing.

Curiosity was growing. Convictions were weakening. The desire to belong was becoming stronger than the courage to stand apart.

And excuses were becoming easier.

One afternoon, he made plans with classmates to pursue an experience that contradicted everything he had been taught about holiness. To leave home without raising suspicion, he told his mother he was going to study.

But his mother had other plans.

She had noticed something in her son long before he was willing to acknowledge it.

“You are not the same anymore.”

Those were words she had repeated during his years of spiritual drift.

She didn’t know about his secret plans. She didn’t know where he intended to go. But she knew something was changing, and she wanted her son to return to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

So she insisted that he accompany her to a prayer gathering.

What followed would become one of the most unforgettable experiences of his life.

And remarkably, when the meeting ended, he still continued toward his original destination.

But something inside him was no longer the same.

In this deeply personal fifth installment of Pamoja Turning Point, we explore the extraordinary intersection of a mother’s instinct, a son’s hidden struggles, and what he believes was a divine intervention.

Now a father himself, the narrator looks back with a new understanding of his mother’s concern, her prayers, and the spiritual inheritance she left behind.

This story also confronts a difficult truth:

The excuse is not always the beginning of spiritual drift. Sometimes, it is evidence that the drift has already begun.

Through personal testimony and biblical reflection, Story V explores the seeds of compromise, the danger of rationalizing sin, the importance of godly parenting, and the mercy of God that calls us back before our choices take us further.

For every parent praying for a wandering child.

For every Christian quietly struggling with compromise.

And for everyone who has ever looked back and recognized that God was working in moments they did not understand.

Sometimes, the greatest turning point is not the door God opens before you. It is the door you finally decide not to enter.

PAMOJA TURNING POINT — STORY IV

THE GRAVE I DUG FOR MYSELF | A Christian Going Undercover

Real Stories. Real People. Real Grace.

What happens when a man who once loved God with all his heart becomes a stranger to his faith, his family, and eventually himself?

In this deeply emotional fourth installment of PAMOJA TURNING POINT, we follow the journey of a Christian who went undercover in the world, only to discover that the greatest danger was not being discovered—but forgetting who he really was.

What began with small compromises gradually became a lifestyle of alcoholism, infidelity, rebellion, and spiritual emptiness.

The man who once loved worship became insensitive to God’s Word. The husband who once cherished his marriage became distant and unfaithful. The father who should have been protecting his family became a stranger in his own home.

Blinded by pride, he blamed everyone around him for the destruction his own decisions were causing.

His marriage deteriorated. His children grew distant. The heartbreaking loss of his mother left him struggling with grief, guilt, and despair. His health declined, and the life he had spent years building began falling apart.

Yet, somewhere beneath the darkness, one thing remained: the memory of the God he had loved since childhood.

Then, one night, a violent attack brought fire to his driveway.

That terrifying event awakened something within him. Confronted with the vulnerability of his family and the limitations of his own strength, he made a decision that would change his life.

He returned to church.

And on that unforgettable Sunday morning, during worship, he recognized a voice he had known since he was eleven years old.

The voice had not changed. He had.

As the worship called him to rise from the grave, he realized something extraordinary:

The grave was not something someone else had prepared for him. He had been digging it himself, one compromise, one betrayal, and one destructive decision at a time.

What followed was an unforgettable encounter at the altar—a moment of repentance, surrender, and renewed commitment that became the beginning of his journey toward restoration.

Story IV also reveals a powerful lesson about relationships: sometimes we become so obsessed with the 20% we believe is missing that we risk destroying the 80% of love, commitment, and blessings already present in our lives.

But what happens when we discover that we ourselves have become part of what is missing?

THE GRAVE I DUG FOR MYSELF is a testimony of spiritual drift, broken relationships, personal responsibility, repentance, and the transforming grace of Jesus Christ.

Perhaps you remember the person you used to be. Perhaps you remember when prayer was natural, worship was personal, and God’s presence was your greatest desire.

Perhaps somewhere along the journey, you stopped recognizing yourself.

Your story does not have to end where your failures have brought you.

There is still hope. There is still room for repentance. And through Jesus Christ, there is still an invitation to return.

Sometimes the greatest testimony is not how far we have fallen, but how God’s grace calls us to rise again.

What if you never stopped believing in God… but slowly built a life where He was no longer at the center?

In Story III of PAMOJA TURNING POINT, the journey of spiritual drift moves into a new and more sophisticated season.

A young Christian who had experienced restoration enters university and encounters a world of wealth, influence, education, ambition, and opportunity. What begins as admiration slowly becomes comparison. Comparison becomes dissatisfaction. And the old desire to belong—the same weakness he thought he had overcome—returns wearing better clothes.

This time, camouflage is no longer simply about hiding his Christian identity.

It becomes intellectual.

Professional.

Social.

Spiritual.

As university life opens doors to new friendships, nightlife, relationships, and professional circles, boundaries begin moving almost unnoticed. Even more dangerous, he discovers other Christians living the same contradiction—publicly identifying with Christ while privately embracing another life.

Soon, compromise finds community.

And when compromise finds community, what once troubled the conscience can begin to feel normal.

The consequences eventually reach the very Christian movement that had once helped rescue him from spiritual drift. What began with young believers hungry for prayer, holiness, the Holy Spirit, and the reality of God slowly becomes vulnerable to the same camouflage they thought they had escaped.

This is a story about belonging.

Comparison.

Ambition.

Pride.

Double lives.

Compromise.

Collapse.

And the mercy of a God who does not disappear when everything else falls apart.

Because sometimes the public collapse is not the beginning.

It is the revelation of something that has been growing privately for a long time.

And perhaps the most important warning in this story is this:

You do not have to experience every scar to learn every lesson.

If God is exposing something in your life, He may not be exposing it to destroy you.

He may be exposing it because He intends to rescue you.
