Do you want to feel like you belong in the workplace God has placed you, even when you don’t “have it all together?” Are you tired of overthinking what people think of you? Wish you could stop letting insecurity take control? Want to create a work environment that honors how your brain works?

I’m so happy you’re here! This podcast will help you learn powerful ways to reverse the effects of a root of insecurity—which is rejection, using Scriptures. And you'll learn about the neurodivergent brain—so you can create a work-life where you feel more confident and competent as you navigate work.

Hi, I'm Yardley. Jesus-girl, author, Work Wellness Coach, and Organizational Psychology grad student—with a late-diagnosed neurodivergent brain. Throughout almost two decades as a working professional, I tried so much to fit into molds at work that weren’t meant for me to fit into.

With not quite fitting in, comes being misunderstood, and thus rejection in various ways—whether real, perceived or having the fear of rejection. I would find myself wondering what co-workers and leaders thought about me, felt insecure about saying the wrong things while trying so hard to sound eloquent. I didn’t honor how I was uniquely designed—ultimately rejecting myself. After wondering why I functioned differently for so long, I found great strategies that actually work!

But what’s even more important is using the Bible to help navigate our thoughts as we tackle rejection in the hurdles of work.

I’m super excited to share how using His Word and understanding how your brain was uniquely designed can help you navigate work grounded in godly security.

If you are ready for…

  • A more peaceful and powerful thought-life at work, grounded in the Word
  • Freedom from self-doubt, rumination, comparison, imposter syndrome, and masking
  • Insight about your brain, so you can effectively navigate where you’ve been placed by God

…then this podcast is for you!

Stir up that mushroom coffee, and let’s dive in!

  • 8 | Five Ways You’re People Pleasing at Work to Avoid Rejection—and Simple Solutions to Break the Cycle and Build Your Confidence
    2026/09/10

Are you people pleasing at work because you’re afraid of rejection, conflict, disappointing others, or not being liked?

People pleasing can show up in subtle ways in the neurodiverse experience—taking on too much work, overthinking conversations, constantly apologizing, or agreeing just to keep the peace. While these behaviors may feel like they’re protecting you from rejection, they can actually chip away at your confidence and leave you overwhelmed, burned out, and disconnected from your authentic self.

In this episode of Overcome Rejection at Work, we’ll look at five common ways people pleasing can show up in the workplace, including ADHD signs like RSD (Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria) and OCD behaviors like compulsions, and practical ways to break the cycle and build confidence. We’ll also look at what Scripture teaches us about this topic, so let’s dive in!

For after the episode… Action Items

When you’re taking on too much work:

    • How can my workload be redistributed?
    • If it can’t be redistributed, how can the work be prioritized or phased throughout the year?
    • What is motivating me to take on this much work—service, responsibility, or a desire to please people?

    When you’re volunteering too much:

    • Am I volunteering because I genuinely want to help?
    • Or am I trying to be liked, needed, accepted, or seen as dependable?
    • Is there someone else who could do this or grow by learning how?

When you want to revisit a conversation:

    • Why do I think that conversation damaged something?
    • What if it did? Will I be okay regardless?
    • If this person doesn’t like me anymore, am I still valuable?
    • Will more words make me more confident or less confident?
    • Does God still love me after that conversation?

    When you’re apologizing unnecessarily:

    • Why do I say “I’m sorry” so much?
    • Am I actually sorry?
    • Did I do anything wrong that warrants an apology?
    • What am I seeking permission for?
    • Where does this come from?

When you’re agreeing to avoid conflict:

    • What do I actually think about this?
    • Am I staying quiet because I genuinely agree—or because I’m afraid of rejection?
    • What would it look like to respectfully share my perspective?

And when you find yourself caught in any of these people-pleasing habits, remember this question: Who am I truly working for?

Colossians 3:23–24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
