  • Quiet Growth: The Boring Middle Nobody Shows You
    2026/08/03

Everybody wants to showboat the moment something starts moving. JD breaks down why the quiet, boring, in-between stage of building something is where the real work happens, and why leaking your moves too early can mess up the whole plan.

This one covers staying dolo versus needing a crowd, knowing your energy source, spotting the people applauding loudest who still want to see you slip, and why staying in it always comes before staying out the way.

For the ones actually building something, not the ones just talking about it.

  • The Game Slows Down
    2026/07/27

    Send us Fan Mail

JD pulls up to the coffee spot looking for a young server he was short with on a bad day. Dude wasn't there. That small moment opens up into everything else on his mind this week.

In this one: why you can't let a customer's bad energy knock you off your pivot, and how to figure out what actually recharges you. Why therapy is maintenance, not failure, and why you don't graduate from it any more than you graduate from the gym. Why your great grandma ate pork chops and lived to 104, so quit selling people on the idea that a diet buys you time.

Then the real one. JD's settling into his forties and it ain't giving up, it's the game slowing down. Twenty year old thoughts don't come with twenty year old steps. At this age the blessing is you can read the play before it happens, so every step gets calculated.

Plus: listen to your elders and test what they tell you, why a dedicated route can beat freedom when you're young, and what his grandpa told him next to that pickup truck. Somebody's always watching. Make sure you comfortable with what you presenting.

If you knew you'd be grown way longer than you'd ever be a kid, you'd have enjoyed being a kid a whole lot more. Be a conserver, not a consumer. Save. Invest. Pay attention to math. And don't be worried about effing up, everybody do.

This worked for me. Take it or leave it.

  • The Rat Race Nobody Talks About
    2026/07/20

    Send us Fan Mail

We all running it. Most of us won’t admit it. In this one, JD gets into the rat race nobody talks about: the burnout, the endless chasing, keeping up with the Joneses, and working hard to afford a life you’re too tired to live.

Here’s the truth underneath it. It’s not that somebody set a brutal finish line. It’s that most of us got no finish line at all. That’s what makes it a rat race. JD breaks down why we run in circles, the make-it-and-spend-it trap he lived himself, and the realistic way out that ain’t quit-your-job fantasy. Look at your overhead. Move for your goals, not for people’s opinions. Draw your own line and run toward that.

This worked for me. Take it or leave it.
