Prosecutors called it one of the only times in American legal history a Ouija board was formally entered into evidence, because it was the only thing in the room that explained the motive.
It started like any other night at Brian and Tammy Roach's house in Minco, Oklahoma — a farming town of about 1,400 people. Tammy's mother, Carol Sue Elvaker, was over, like she was most evenings. Fifty-three years old. No criminal history. Nothing that would ever make you look twice at her. So how does a grandmother like that become a murderer?
