Oregon State’s freshman receiver Jesse Legree is lighting up the college football scene, earning national honors after a breakout performance against Texas Tech — where he hauled in 240 yards and two touchdowns. With 13 catches for 376 yards and three scores across two games, he leads the nation in both total receiving yards and average yards per catch. Legree’s dominance has earned him the Shaun Alexander Award and back-to-back Pac-12 Freshman of the Week nods, plus recognition from 247Sports, On3, and Pro Football Focus. While he’s the only Beaver to win a conference award this week, teammates Braden Atkinson, Aiden Sullivan, and AJ Winsor also received nominations. The Beavers face undefeated Montana Grizzlies next Saturday at 8 PM on USA Sports — a tough test against an FCS powerhouse looking to keep their perfect record intact.

A costly pass interference penalty by Oregon State tight end DeCorion Temple derailed a potential game-winning drive, shifting momentum and sealing a loss for the Beavers. Temple took full accountability, admitting he hit a defender with his forearm on a critical route — a mistake that erased a key completion and pushed his team back from deep enemy territory with under a minute left. Despite confusion on broadcast and initial coaching frustration, Temple stood firm: the blame is his alone. With the Beavers at 0-2 and facing Montana this Saturday at 8 PM Pacific on USA and KEX 1190, the focus is now on cleaner execution and discipline to turn their season around.

Oregon State’s offense is flying through the air but stumbling on the ground—ranking third in the nation in passing, led by a sophomore QB and freshman receiver, while their run game sits dead last with the fewest attempts. Facing tough defenses, they’re determined to fix it, with tight end DeCorion Temple calling for dominance in the trenches and coach JaMarcus Shephard stressing fundamentals. This week’s showdown against Montana could be the turning point—if the offensive line can open holes and the running backs can find space, Oregon State might finally unleash that “two-headed monster” they’ve been building toward.
